Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny came during the week for me and provided me with many things to giggle over that were Idol-related.

Doings In Cooktard Land:

Got wind of a conspiracy theory afloat over at Mary Ann/Holly Sockpuppet’s lair, David Cook Uncensored. Apparently she and her sockpuppets believe that because Cook’s new single, “The Last Goodbuy,..errr, Goodbye” being released on Tuesday and that being the same day that Kimberly Caldwell’s CD was released it must mean that Kimmy and Hair Plugs are doing the nasty. Still. She’s even deluded enough to think that they actually had something to do with making the record companies release these on the same day because they are supposedly playing hide the salami.

Yeah, sure, right, like record companies and it’s execs are at the whim and mercy of former American Idol types instead of the truth, completely opposite. You’d think someone that has bragged a capacious buttload about working for Sony would understand how the music industry works. Nope, she’s just only focusing on who David Cook might be tooling.

But that is a conspiracy theory that might give Kerry Kolsch a run for her money. Hey Kerry, I heard that Kris Allen sweating up a storm in some southern city this past summer. I guess that means in your world that Kris is guilty of something.

This was followed by a visibly nervous David “Hairplugs” Cook performing his newest single on the Idol results show. He kinda blew, and not just because the song isn’t to my personal tastes. He was just off. But in Tardtown they are crowning him the King of all Music.

And then thousands googled their way here under the funniest search term yet in the hours after American Idol aired: “Did David Cook get a hair transplant?” I do not know for sure but my vote is yes. His head looks like he joined Hair Club For Men or perhaps a super expensive lacefront. But I’m betting on plugs. Look at the hairline.

Yes, America, he has done something. There are some that allege he’s had a recent nose job but I’m less sure on that. The tip is pointer and the nose is thinner and more refined but that could be dieting. Remember the chubbo he was when he auditioned for Idol?

Doings in Adam Lambert Fantardland:

I’m always amused by the Sparkle Cows but this week on Twitter was just too freaking funny. On Wednesday Adam tweeted about 420 and the tards immediately started speculating what the significance was. Well he wasn’t tweeting just because it was Adolph Hitler’s birthday even if he did once sport a swastika on his jacket. It took a long time before the Cows were informed of what Jason Castros fans already knew and probably celebrated that 420 was the day to get high, smoke a little weed. Weed Day.

Why do they like to pretend Lambert is some innocent boy confused about his sexuality enough that one of them might have a chance of sleeping with him? Lambert has stated in interviews that’s he’s been known to partake of drugs and alcohol.

So if Adam would tweet 422 Cows would assume it’s Lenin’s b’day?

    • freedavidcook Says:

They would have to be educated enough to realize it was Lenin’s birthday. I did laugh at one tweet I saw chiding Adam that he had the wrong date for ‘Earth Day’.

      • MmmmBop Says:

Did they really assumed it was Hitler’s birthday?
On the other hand, Weed Day date is not known all over the world. Give some credit to the international fans. I think you are a little picky..

      • freedavidcook Says:

Nope, none of them caught that it was Hitler’s birthday. That’s just a little factoid I threw in. They were assuming it had to do with number of twitter followers he needed and all sorts of oddball things. Once it was pointed out what 420 meant they immediately began to say he didn’t do those things when yes, he had said in interviews that he did dabble with recreational drugs.

    • MmmmBop Says:

Do you really read all the tweets about Lambert? I admire your persistence.
I think that majority of his fans knows that he is not an altar boy, just don’t care. C’mon, if you watch YT of his very last encore from LA concert it’s obvious that he was high as a kite. But I have to give him credit for not fucking up his performance (vocals) despite whatever he was on.

  2. MmmmBop Says:

BTW, Cooktards are waiting for “The Last Goodbye” to shoot straight to #1 on iTunes. Sorry, ain’t gonna happen.

    • freedavidcook Says:

Hey, at least we can agree on that. I think the song is pretty crappy myself, even for Idol music.

      • on the edge Says:

I think they were hoping Ryan Tedder was some kind of magic-working guru. Eh, maybe it would have been a hit LAST summer when he had his hand in half those songs. Maybe Cook should have teamed with Bruno Mars instead? (j/k)

      • freedavidcook Says:

At least Bruno seems to be more liked right now than Tedder. Cook should have done like Pigpen Crystal Bowersox and insisted on doing mostly original material instead of the crap 19E pushes. I love her CD, but I love that style of R&B tinged singer-songwriter music. Pigpen gets originality points for not toeing the 19E line.

  3. giggling is good medicine. thanks for spreading the contagion :). keep on.

  4. Thorazine Says:

”At least Bruno seems to be more liked right now than Tedder. Cook should have done like Pigpen Crystal Bowersox and insisted on doing mostly original material instead of the crap 19E pushes. SELLOUT. From the top of his surgically enhanced hairline to his toes. Just calling it as I see and feel it. Don’t know who David Cook is anymore musically. RCA and he keeps releasing crap like this, which IMO is better suited for a female voice. Many of the fans are so desperate and delusional they are furiously spinning that shitty performance into gold, to save face I guess. I understand the “stand by your man” mentality, but come on – Cook blew the biggest opportunity he had to sell this POS song on Idol. Don’t get me started on schlockmeister Tedder. That association more than any will kill of whatever remaining shreds of dignity and cred he had as a ‘rock’ guy. Like I said before, Bowersox has more balls than Cook appears to have, by standing up for and fighting for some measure of her artistic integrity. If you got to go down, at least go down fighting.

    • MmmmBop Says:

      From Hans Eber blog:
“Watching David Cook perform his new record on the show showed just how irrelevant the guy is today and just how “generic” his music is. It’s pop fluff not worth releasing.”
Sadly I have to agree with him. At least Glambert went down with The Big Bang during his infamous AMA performance. Nobody remembered Cooks performance 15 seconds after he was done.

  5. Ali Says:

I forgot about his record finally coming out. I just youtubed the performance and it really is generic and bad. The band is also blah…don’t know what else to say. I don’t think the song even fits with pop releases of late. More like 90’s pop maybe?

  6. Thorazine Says:

Hee Hee. Scott is getting all defensive and butthurt on MJ’s because Cook’s single is looking like a massive FAIL. No real bump after playing to 20 million people on Idol. No bump after playing on Ellen today. The song has actually dropped on Itunes after the performance – which to my ears was flat and disjointed. This song just sucks. Period. Cook doesn’t sound or look believable singing it. The no Idol and Ellen bumps kind of signals what – no interest outside of Idol fans in the song? If so, then he’s struggling like Archuleta and others have struggled in finding an audience outside Idol. His struggle I think is and looks worse, due to him being an Idol winner, having all that 1st tier promo, and doing all that touring… he was gone maybe toooo long I dunno. Something has changed, and for him, it doesn’t look like it’s a good change. I wonder why VFTW has been giving him a pass in not mocking what looks like a massive fail for him. They spare no one else, so why Cook, lol. The reality checks are going to get cashed this time around in Cooktardlandia, and it is going to be fun watching the fallout. RCA may have some tricks left to save face for him and them, but I think the jig is up. Don’t You Forget About Me… The Last Goodbye… Ironic song titles right now, dontcha think.

    • freedavidcook Says:

I thought he looked terrified on Idol and I’m guessing the pressure on him is intense to make this 2nd CD a monster hit. Has to be crushing that the single is sucking so badly on the charts,

    • nonna-muss Says:

First I’ll state I am a Cook fan but I am not a fan of the new single. Just to get that out of the way.

Thorazine, the single hasn’t been released to radio yet, the only fans that it has been exposed to are Idol fans and Ellen fans. He’s done a handful of radio interviews and had it played during a couple of them. The failure or success of the single can’t rightfully be judged until after May 2nd when it hits the airwaves. That is most likely the reason MJ hasn’t called it a failure. It hasn’t impacted yet.

Yes, as I said I’m not a fan of the song. I was disappointed by it but then I remembered how I wanted to cut myself when Springsteen released “Glory Days” and “Dancing in the Dark”. That made me think of how disappointed I was when Bowie released “Let’s Dance”. Oh, how ’bout that little gem from the Rolling Stones called “Goin’ to a Go Go”?

Cook isn’t the only self professed rocker to put out pop drivel. For the artists mentioned above there were rock gems that I love on those albums. Fingers crossed that Cook’s album is the same.

    • nonna-muss Says:

Oh and I forgot. After Idol last week the single went to #25ish on iTunes and entered Amazon Movers and Shakers at #1. So yeah, it did get a bump from Idol.

  7. Thorazine Says:

More delusion. What Itunes chart were you looking at – This single NEVER got that high on the overall itunes chart, the one that really matters. It peaked out at number 52 or so overall, number 25 on the pop chart. To show how dismal the sales performance/buzz has been so far for this so called ‘highly anticipated’ new single, Archuleta’s debut from his sophomore cd outpeaked this turd by over 20 spots on Itunes on opening day – with absolutely no promo, no label support, and evidently no management in place, and without a handed to him tailor made audience of 20 million viewers to debut it. This alone makes the performance so far of this single look sick. Cook has had primo opportunities in just a couple weeks to create buzz and sell this song, and I see no real buzz, or interest outside these boards. There is an elephant in the room it seems, and everyone is trying their damnedest to not see it. I had no illusions about the direction RCA would try to take him in on this CD, but I am really amazed at just how bad a fit this song is for him as the lead single. He just does not look or sound believable singing it, and if it finds some measure of HAC success, it will be because RCA will shell out some heavy payola to get this turd played. It’s too early, yes, for them to do the old switcheroo like they did for Lambert, this goes for official adds on 5/2, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came to that.

  8. Thorazine Says:

  10. Thorazine Says:

I don’t hate him, I just hate what has been done to him. I refuse to drink the kool aid this time around that’s all. I will call a turd a turd, and let the chips fall where they may.

    • freedavidcook Says:

You are right Thorazine, it is a turd. And my grandmother used to say you could dress up a turd and polish it all up but it’s still a turd. I’m sure RCA will with polishing and prettying that turd up but it’s still going to be a turd.

Ugh to the new hair do.

  11. Thorazine Says:

I don’t hate him. I am refusing to drink the kool aid this time around, that’s all. Calling a turd a turd, and let the chips fall where they may. David is better than this dreck, but it seems he’s ok with what appears to be the selling out of all the things I liked, or thought I liked about him musically.

    • nonna-muss Says:

I didn’t drink the kool-aid this time or last time either. I refused to shove my way to the front to get some. Maybe you feel more let down than I do because of that. To me, it is what it is and I’m going to like it or not, whatever. Until I hear the whole album I’m not ready to write him off or call him a sellout.

      • Burt Says:

I agree with Nonna – it’s too early to judge. Until we’ve heard the album (and to a degree heard how it translates live) it’s harsh to make a sweeping statement on the music as a whole and whether he’s sold out. I’m not forced to like or buy anything, I use my own judgment and I accept that I’m not going to enjoy everything a band/singer I like puts out – it’s just life. I really didn’t like my favorite band’s last album but that’s my fault not theirs. It doesn’t mean they sold out, they changed direction and I didn’t like it. But you know what? They’re still my favorite band, I still saw them live and I still support them. I doubt I’m alone in that attitude.

I take issue with the “sell out” tag because there’s no way to know. We don’t know what’s in his head, what he originally said he’d never do or how much he’s compromised. They want TLG to do well and went a little more commercial – is anyone really surprised? It’s been discussed on here before but where do you draw the “sell out” line especially with an AI contestant? Maybe I’m just more relastic about his position but being with a major label he was always going to release more commercial work, especially as singles. I think it’s wrong to constantly compare new material to Analog Heart too. I love that album but who’s to say he would have made another album like it even if left to his own devices? Even releasing on his own, he might have gone more commercial to sell more units/get airplay. Regardless, he would have progressed/changed – it happens with plenty of artists. His own musical taste appears eclectic so it’s not like he’s a solely hard rock fan who went from releasing Pearl Jam-like heavy music and is now releasing a shocking album of disco. Any artist wants to sell music to be able to live and tour and he’s no different but we just don’t know what sacrifices he’s made to try to do it.

As has been mentioned, the success of TLG is difficult to judge overall because it’s not been totally rolled out to radio. Plus there’s no video yet. We also have no idea what targets RCA have set – it may be that the idea is to recoup the outlay by touring. Who knows? Not me and I doubt anyone here does. Obviously they want it to sell but that might not be their only measure of success, I suspect a lot of it is to get his name out there which has happened already to a degree. What I do know is they obviously invested time and money in this album and they won’t give up without a fight because if nothing else, it’s business. And if it fails and the album does bomb (which I hope it doesn’t) I don’t think it will be the end for him – he’s talented and always gets great comments from people he’s worked with so he’ll be fine.
TLG is provoking odd reactions – a lot of comments on Twitter have been very positive and not just from the usual crowd. I asked a few unbiased people what they thought after AI – one said it was maybe a bit “too rocky” for the ballad-like lyrics; one said they liked it and when I expressed surprise was confused why “as a fan of hard rock music” I didn’t think they’d like it; and one doesn’t think the song is much of a departure from his previous album. FYI, two of these were straight men and all had heard at least some of his previous music. Music is just subjective, everyone reads something into it and not everyone reads the same level of detail into it.

As for the AI performance, he looked visibly relieved at the end and has said himself that it took a while to get into it. I didn’t think it was all that bad once he got going but I’m guessing nerves got to him – maybe spending two days being asked about it didn’t help especially when some interviews started at 5am. The Ellen performance seems better all round but I don’t get the whole “the song isn’t him” thing, it IS him and I don’t see any uncomfortableness in his performances.

His fans are generally kiss-asses and I’ve criticized them them but right now, I’m actually glad that’s the case. If the pressure *is* getting to him then I would hate for him to be bombarded with negativity because that wouldn’t do anyone in his position any good. I don’t think it necessarily means they’re deluded though.

Clearly I’m a fan and will continue to be because regardless of what he releases because I can’t help but like him. My only reason for posting this is to balance out views a little to show that not everyone agrees and we’re not all deluded, it’s just a case of seeing a balanced view or in some cases, not reading so much into every thing. It all makes me wonder whether he can do anything right particularly with his appearance and music. In truth, I find all the judgments and assumptions a little sad – it’s not limited to him of course and I think it’s a sign of the times but still it’s sad to me.

How about we reverse this discussion – what do you think he should have done in this musical and financial climate to be successful commercially and also please the current, demanding, fans? And the answers can’t make assumptions on decisions he’s made or what he’s been forced to do! I’m genuinely interested because it seems it’s not a good time for his kind of music commercially at all.

  12. Thorazine Says:

Sorry for the double post… gin and tonic is a hell of a drank.

    • Dani Says:

Love me a G & T too. Gotta agree with ya on the last sentence about selling out though. Almost makes me mad at him for the whole mess. I’m kinda embarrassed for him even.

  13. Thorazine Says:

Just in… TLG sold 21k in its debut week – The same as Archuleta approx. 1st reality check cashed. More to be deposited. I like fairy tales, so keep the spin coming, I have plenty of gin and popcorn.

    • burt Says:

It’s not spin, it’s being realistic. I don’t think anyone predicted sales figures let alone said they would be great (and by the way, I saw them and it seems to not include the free pre-sale download so there’s a few thousand on top of that 21k). All anyone said was that it’s too early to write the song off as a failure because it’s not on radio, doesn’t have a video etc and as I said, sales might not be their only goal – I’m pretty certain getting airplay and his name out there are on the list too. Good to see that you’re bothering to read all points and trying to see things from another angle though – how is that high perch you’re teetering on? I have drink and popcorn ready too…

And by the way, so what if it’s the same as Archuleta? I have nothing against him but are you a bitter fan of his because you’re starting to sound like it. They’re different people with different fans and different styles so just because figures are the same right now, it doesn’t mean the trend will continue or that it will have the same end. Do you think all musicians sell by the bucketload all the time? No, they don’t and a lot depends what the label see in them, if they do well touring (often where the real revenue is) and how much they want to invest, just look at Adam Lambert.

Sorry but your negativity is deafening at such an early stage. I at least hope for the best… it might not happen, like I said I’m not deluded, and he has a tough road ahead but that doesn’t mean we have to spread negativity based on half-truths and a crap comparison to someone totally different – I mean really, as if Archuleta is remotely as interesting as Cook. No offense to him at all, he seems very nice, but he just doesn’t have the same appeal.

  14. Jen Says:

Huh, here I thought this place was somewhere to make fun of Cook’s fans, not bash him. I can go anywhere for that.

  15. Thorazine Says:

    🙂

Mission accomplished. The tarding and tards here are more slick and undercover, but scratched deeply enough, no different than the sockpuppet lady, or any other crazy cook fan. What makes you all think you’re better than the crazies? What you mete out will be sent right back at you, so enjoy the 1st crash to earth you’ve received today – more to come. Keep cashing those checks folks – reality has a never ending supply waiting for ya’ll 🙂 ‘drink’

    cheers!

    • burt Says:

haha! Well it seems you think you’re better than any of his fans here from your attitude. I’m not arrogant enough to call myself “better” than anyone. Do I think I’m less crazy than others? Sure! Why? Because I don’t stalk him, either in person or online, and I don’t make up stories. Jen is right, this place is better when the true, crazy, tards are the subject rather than ridiculous, not-quite-founded attacks on him and his fucking hair. (Seriously! He was too bald, too side-swept, then he’s too fake, then it’s too long and now he’s going to get criticism for getting it cut? Give the guy a break, it’s only his hair, what’s he meant to do?)

Oh and if smug means not jumping to conclusions, being balanced and trying to have a discussion on the facts as we know them then yep, I guess I’m smug. I’d rather that than scaremongering and ignoring facts or not even trying to be balanced. I’m not suggesting everyone should agree but anyone “defending” him is doing so while admitting the single might not be ideal, you’re just having a go based on your personal dislike, your feelings of being let down and one set of early sales figures.

As for his appeal, I meant in future when they go to do press in magazines, TV interviews etc. That’s where it makes a difference and correct me if I’m wrong but he’s not done much of that yet.

  16. Thorazine Says:

Well burt, from the looks of these 1st week sales, and the decided lack of interest and buzz outside Cooktardlandia for such an appealing guy, looks like they’re about even. 🙂 It’s that kind of smugness that will soon be disappearing as the checks keep rolling in.

    cheers!

  17. nonna-muss Says:

Thorazine, you seem to be quite disappointed and feel extremely strongly about his ‘failure’. I’d say that’s one tard who feels personally affronted because he didn’t please her.

  18. MmmmBop Says:

Could someone refresh my memory, how sales for Kris LLWD and Lamberts WWFM looked in the first week?? Both songs eventually went platinum.

  19. Rubber Ducky Says:

So many teal deer murdered… 😦

  20. nonna-muss Says:

In other news, the Race for Hope is this weekend and Cook is already in DC. I pray the tards don’t pull any shenanigans this weekend.

    • freedavidcook Says:

What’s he doing here so freaking early? Big sigh, I suppose I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled at work as the place Bono and other celebs eat at in the area is two doors down from work. I’ll have to watch the foot traffic.

      • nonna-muss Says:

He’s doing a private acoustic show in Baltimore today. Tomorrow night is the concert. Stay away from Webster Hall unless you have your camera! 😉

      • burt Says:

Yep, keep a look out FDC you could be in for some fun! 🙂

I hope they behave but I fear the potential 4 days of access could push them over the edge. What happened with tickets for the private show? Did they go to locals only?

      • freedavidcook Says:

Hope he and Neal get a chance to go to Fells Point to do a pub crawl. Blocks of fun weird bars. I love Baltimore.

  21. michele Says:

” What happened with tickets for the private show? Did they go to locals only?”

What do you think, Burt? Hell no. The “real fans” would’ve killed themselves if they had. I actually saw comments on Twitter like “I’m glad the tickets went to fans and not people who don’t care.” Uh, has it ever occurred to any of them that if say, someone who has never heard him had gotten to see the private show, maybe he’d make a new fan?! God knows he needs more fans!

Did you see he answered some call-in questions on some radio show? The usual suspects were the callers too. God forbid anybody who hasn’t talked to him 8000 times gets even one chance!

    • SeenTheLight Says:

I saw that about him doing something for some radio station. I also saw one of the usual suspects boasting about how it’s them that gets to talk to him and how they are the ones going to the radio shows among other things. If that’s any indication of how things are going to be going this weekend, it’s going to be one long interesting weekend once more fans get into town.

    • Burt Says:

Yeah I assumed that was the case! You’re both right. They are so insular (only RTs within their circle and rarely picking up anything a non-clique fan is asking or trying to achieve). I saw those tweets about calls too, imagine the sinking feeling when he realizes it’s them on the other end, no matter where he is. Did I read right that some actually won tickets to the concert? Didn’t they have them already?

I caught some of an interview today and he again said how blessed he is to have them, thought I heard him getting emotional about them and when he announced his brother’s death – I was only half listening, was that right? If so, I really wonder if he does find comfort in their support. Man, I wish I knew what he thinks because as we see it, he has no reason to be so complimentary to them but his comments are definitely beyond “yeah they’re great” to keep them happy. Maybe he sees it totally differently?

This weekend is going to be interesting for sure…

    • Jen Says:

Not to mention the person who called in to ask if there were any other songs written with his bandmates Andy and Neal because she loves NEAL’s writing. Oh okay.

  22. Dani Says:

Nonna-muss, where did you hear about the acoustic show? Man, I am so out of the loop. 2 years ago I’d have known all about it. Did anyone see the ebay listing for RFH where a 5 pack of meet and greet passes went for over $5,000 I think? Went back to see the final price and it ended so I can’t find it.

    • freedavidcook Says:

Wonder if he’s going to be fielding a fistful of fraus tomorrow at the golf tournament fundraiser? That’s if the course is usable. We’ve had days of bad weather, driving rain, lightning strikes and a few tornadoes in the area. Would not be too surprised if the tournament was affected. Fantards, acres of wet marshy grass and high temps don’t sound like much fun to me.

  23. SeenTheLight Says:

The craziness has begun judging by the amount of tweets showing up. Many of the usual suspects will be in attendance for tonight’s show and have been upgrading their seats all day. They don’t get the fact that by buying more tickets just to get closer to the stage, they are possibly denying a casual fan who may have wanted to attend a chance not to be able to if it looks like there aren’t tickets left. I feel bad for the guy tonight when he comes on stage and encounters the same people he had to see on tour in the first rows instead of seeing new people staring back at him.

  24. nonna-muss Says:

Here’s banter and he calls out fans who were sitting in the lobby during soundcheck and tweeted about his new songs.

    • freedavidcook Says:

It’s actually sunny but a little cold this morning in DC. Hope those bitches freeze their tits off.

  25. nonna-muss Says:

This is a lovely tweet he got. I saw it on his timeline. Hahahaha.

“Hey @thedavidcook we were just driving, talking about how we want to suck your cock and your song came on. #drunk”

    • burt Says:

Haha! Watching his timeline gives an amazing insight. Noticed a few apologizing for “accidentally” being at the same place yesterday.

Looks like he’s finished the race now – good for him. In response, someone tweeted:

      I LOVE your legs…

Yep, absolutely where your mind should be. Forget praising his charitable efforts. Why bother when it has the happy benefit of him getting his calves out. Jesus.

Can anyone explain the live uStream craze? I understand doing special shows (but I call BS on the “it’s about the music” claims, one listen to audio quality proves it clearly isn’t) but why broadcast his speech live? I’m surprised they’ve not been showing his every move live this weekend “Tune in now! Dave’s having a crap.” really wouldn’t be a surprising tweet to see 😦

    • Dani Says:

Nonna, do you have any idea when that gem was tweeted? I gotta go back and see what psycho said that. I do have a few that I could imagine it coming from already.

      • nonna-muss Says:

It was the wee hours of this morning. (5/1) It wasn’t a loonie that I recognized.

      • Dani Says:

Thanks. He’s had so much shit tweeted to him it’s probably long gone. I tried advanced search on twitter for those romantic words of lust but nothing came up.

      • burt Says:

I just looked out of interest and it’s still there. I searched his @name and er, cock (the shame!). It definitely isn’t one of the usual Twitter crew.

      • Dani Says:

Holy crap, no matter what or how I search nothing comes up (lol). Can ya just copy it in here for us? 🙂

      • Dani Says:

OK I got it, was searching replies to him instead of about him. Hey at least they look young and fairly attractive. May be hope for him yet! #winning

  26. WilcoIsAwesome Says:

I saw all of those tweets. I had a great laugh. I totally agree about the whole acoustic show/performances situation. If someone who wasn’t a superfan won tickets to see a guy they aren’t familiar with play an intimate show, isn’t that a good thing? That he could potentially sell a record to a new fan? That he could get someone outside of the usual circle to a show? I don’t get why it’s such a big deal that someone outside of the crazy won tickets. This is what bands play shows for – to gain new fans! It’s about spreading music, man! I can only hope that if he does something like this in Chicago that I can win tickets, instead of someone from outside of my area who flies in specifically for the occasion because they’re BSC.

  27. Jen Says:

Aaaand the “diehards” – LA contingent this time – are in full force at today’s radio show, once again preventing possible new fans from exposure. And gloating about it. Nice.

    • nonna-muss Says:

I forgot about that. I just looked at the Queen of LA’s twitter feed. The ass kissing is disgusting.

  28. riley Says:

Oh yes they are bragging. And interestingly enough, the girl who used to host the cellcasts is there too. The LA diehards hate her cause she had lied about having inside info and then had the nerve to call them out for their bs too. Wonder if there will be an LA blow up.

  29. burt Says:

As reassuring as it *might* be to have familiar faces around it’s gotta be depressing for him. In a few days at a handful of event, how many of the usual crowd he has seen? Imagine the conversations… “It wasn’t me that smelled you.” *shudder* Their “wish” for him to become huge will never happen with their attitudes and deep down, I suspect they know it and don’t care because otherwise they would lose access, which is their main thing.

Today there were the usual “got any questions for David Cook” tweets and amongst the “we’re thinking of you today” type messages was “are any of the songs inspired by his brother Adam?” – just the day to be asking right? Insensitive much?

    • Jen Says:

At least of them today had just flown back to CA from DC even! Like, yes, it’s not good for him if you know 98% of the people there, sorry.

Yeah, I saw tweets to both David and Andrew (and their mom too, weird) with condolences. I guess maybe I understand the sentiment but it makes me want to claw my face off. haha

      • Jen Says:

Poop. That should say two, at least two of them.

      • burt Says:

Yeah I sort of understand the sentiment too but, I dunno. As for the comment I mentioned it just struck me as odd timing, I mean why try to potentially upset him during a radio interview? It’s not like they wouldn’t have known the significance – I don’t follow all details relating to him but even I know the date coincides with Race for Hope. If he’d cried I suppose they would’ve wheeled out the “sensitive man, not afraid to cry” line. They love that!

      • burt Says:

Stupidly I didn’t think anyone would have been at both shows (I meant familiar faces as in different people at each show). Oh how little I know… 😦

    • nonna-muss Says:

Thanks a lot Burt. I had to use brain bleach to forget about the “It wasn’t me that smelled you” comment. Now I’ll have to send my husband out to the store to get more since that comment took the whole gallon I had on hand.

I did see pictures from the Saturday radio station show and the only familiar face I was able to recognize was the tard who got arrested for being drunk at one of his shows.

      • burt Says:

haha sorry about that Nonna! It was far too good to not share and I love that people felt the need to RT it, like saying it to him wasn’t enough! Newslfash! It doesn’t make it look like you share in jokes, it just makes you look freaky.

      • nonna-muss Says:

Especially freaky since Cook just said in a radio interview that being smelled is weird. Why bring it up? I saw someone tweeted the offender calling him “Dave’s bff”. Gag.

      • burt Says:

I know! We remember that comment so they must do too – their logic is baffling.

Don’t understand the obsession with what he smells like anyway. I’m pretty sure he smells like, you know, a human man and a sweaty one at that if it’s post gig or run. Wouldn’t catch me sniffing him on purpose in that situation. 😉

  30. Dani Says:

Today’s attendees. Mostly old/large/gay. Just so wrong.

    • Piiia Says:

Are you only allowed to like someones music and admire them, even being their fan, if you are young, slim and straight? Or at least keep it secret and not show it in public places if you are not? I’m very thankful that Mr. Cook seems to have more compassion for other people than you have.

      • on the edge Says:

No, anyone is allowed to be a fan. The problem is when the more crazy fans lay some sort of claim or ownership of him, when they go to multiple shows and appearances, insist on being in the front row for EVERY show, and don’t allow him any opportunity to organically add new fans. And when someone new DOES comes along, you scold them and drive them away because they aren’t a “big-enough” fan, because they weren’t there from the beginning, because you’ve hogged all the tickets/seats/space at the front of the meet and greet. It’s GREED, and your greed is what will ultimately cost him his career.

A “fan” goes to one show per tour, maybe two, IF THEY ARE CLOSE BY. They don’t spend one thousand dollars on a trip to DC to support his favorite charity when that money could have gone to THE ACTUAL CHARITY. They buy one copy of the record; perhaps two if they can’t upload the CD to their iTunes account so they get an extra digital version. And they have faith in the marketplace; they do not take it upon themselves to single-handedly prop up and support his career. They let it grow on its own, like a plant, with just enough water and a little exposure to sun. Too much or too little of either and the plant wilts or drowns, and eventually dies.

    • Dani Says:

Ya gotta love #8. Constipation face, a pre-requisite for just about every song.

      • Dani Says:

And I think #19 was someone that came here and scolded us once or thrice, in addition to Zoo.

    • Karen Says:

Oh dear….is it just me or did most of the women in the photos look like someone’s less-than-favorite aunt who came to visit and insists on having their picture taken with their bestest nephew? He is openly grimacing in a few of those shots. Only time he looks the least bit relaxed is if the photo-ee is under the age of 25.

Maybe it’s time Mr Cook looked to Mr Tiemann and suggested a bit of the old Thrash Metal to make the Tards from Target go away.

      • Piiia Says:

You see what you want to see. I went through those same pictures and I didn’t see Mr. Cook grimacing in any pictures. Mostly he had a professional, neutral expression, like a person who is photographed a lot would have learned to have.

Altough you seem to despise the Tards from Target, Mr. Cook seems to be just as thankful for their support of him as he is of his other fans, who you might fine more tolerable. After all his livelihood comes from all of them.

      • burt Says:

Agree with Piiia on the photos. Only just looked and after the comments here, I made a point of not looking at who he was with, he mostly had the same expression. At least that’s how it looks to me.

  31. riley Says:

Ok He is not happy in any of those pictures with those people. He has such a fake smile. I flipped through those and keep thinking, he is like shoot me now. My favs are 15, 18, 20, 21, 24, 29, and 38. I swear the look is “take the picture already so I can go home and burn these clothes”

  32. Thorazine Says:

Those fans are tragic looking. How much you want to bet he wishes he could stab his eyes out every time he looks out into his audience, and sees these same folks, over and over and over. And he does if recent sales for the single and preorders indicate. Doesn’t look like he’s acquired very many new fans in 3 years, thanks to these heifers and lunatics scaring away anyone potential new fan with their neediness and OTT antics. He is veering into Hicks territory regarding his relationship with the fans. He probably despises them and their crazy with a passion, but they are all he has left to keep a semblance of a real career. So the symbiotic ass kissing must continue for survival on both sides. VFTW called this scenario, and it’s playing out, contrary to their still being unwilling to stick it to Cook and his fans like they stick it to and mock everything else.

    • WilcoisAwesome Says:

That’s why I think all of this is funny. Like, I wish the guy well, and feel badly for him. You can’t gain any new fans, if all the old fans insist on pushing them (literally and figuratively) away – especially if they’re younger. And if they don’t get pushed away, they get welcomed into this group of lunatics who insist they know EVERYTHING about him. From what I’ve gathered from a few Twitterers, they seem to think they’re BFF with Neal and co because they’ve showed up/been to so many shows and events. It’s almost as if they don’t understand that part of being in the public eye, especially in a band, is being nice to people and socializing. It doesn’t mean your BFF and it doesn’t mean you can tell that person how much you hate the song Come Back to Me.

  33. sodagrape Says:

This comment posted at MJ’s is sad and embarrassing for so many reasons:

    Scott says:
    05/03/2011 at 9:58 am

I didn’t see this on any previous thread. It’s David Cook’s entire appearance at 1043 MYFM’s (KBIG-Los Angeles) acoustic gig yesterday, courtesy of John_Socal’s “crotch-cam” LOL. MJ, maybe you can put it in the headlines or move it to a new thread.

It was a wonderful event. Short but sweet. I even get a callout around 11:15 (lol, This is a Callout…). David was in great spirits and the room showed him lots of love. 30 Southern California fans – most of them diehards.

The note he held at the end of LO was incredible. He also sang CBTM and TLG and even fellow fans who were there, for whom those are his least favorite songs, said he was amazing and they actually loved the songs performed the way he did. His guitarist Neal Tiemann accompanied him.

David was as articulate as ever, and his voice was beautiful. His humor on display and very easy going. Yet, many of us remarked to each other afterwards that we sensed, perhaps for the first time, that it seems like he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. So much is riding on TLM and you can tell he’s feeling the pressure. Take a listen. He talks about it. He also said he’d been fighting to do the boot song for a couple of years now LOL! He considers it a coveted gig and he’s proud of how DYFAM turned out.

  34. burt Says:

So on the anniversary of his brother’s death “he seemed like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders”? Couldn’t just be that he was upset or pissed at being reminded constantly then? These fucking people! Maybe he is feeling the pressure but he’s looked and sounded fine and relaxed in interviews I’ve seen/heard. Still, I’m not a “diehard” sharing an intimate situation so what the hell do I know? Why just enjoy something when you can analyize and read things into it?

As for his relationship with them, as I’ve said before I honestly wonder if he actually has no real issue with them (although obviously he has to be bored of having his photo taken with them). Yes, he needs to keep them on side but his words/actions go beyond that and if “they” wanted they could try to stop their behaviour but they let it carry on. Hopefully he’ll pick up fans from his other appearances. He’s certainly doing OK on Twitter – although not the greatest indicator, it’s a sign new people are interested but as I’ve ranted about before, that too is a wasted opportunity mostly because of how the usual crowd act.

    • WilcoisAwesome Says:

It’s definitely evident he’s in a tough position – the same people we’re calling out are also the same people that have hounded radio personalities, the cowriters, engineers and anyone associated with David for information and to play his stuff. But at the same time, they’re the ones that prevent other potential fans from really getting into a position where they feel like communicating with “die-hards”or getting involved in the online community because they’re looked at like they have leprosy for not being as emotionally/financially invested. So it’s really a tightrope he’s gotta walk – keep the crazies happy because they’re the ones dominating a few things, but don’t get too comfy, because they’re gonna smell your ass if given the chance and shit’s gonna get weird.

  35. SeenTheLight Says:

I know someone who was at the radio show yesterday and she told me it was quite a sight to behold with a lot of the “diehards” in attendance. She did say there were a handful of people who had never seen him in person before and that one of the questions he was asked was by one of them. The DJ at the radio station was the one that called Scott out and drew David’s attention to Scott being there. My friend said that when David referred to Scott, facial expressions said it all but of course that little detail get left out. The audio speaks for itself. He was the one that drew attention to himself by saying he never sniffed David. My friend had told me that the radio station made everyone turn off their phones but apparently some fans turned theirs back on and that’s how they got photos and videotaped the show. My friend also said the photo op part was interesting to watch as he interacted with the ‘diehards.’

  36. Jen Says:

It’s the gloating that bugs me. What, if you don’t recognize me I’m not a “diehard”? If I haven’t seen him 7868900 times? Whatever.

I don’t think we’ll ever know (or at least not for a long time) how he feels about them. We only get their perspective. Sure they say he was in a great mood or whatever and attribute it to them being there but who knows. He hardly ever goes out to shows in LA lately and when he does he (and usually his brother) leaves right away. I think the one time he tried to call them out on a blog he got raked over the coals so I really don’t think he’s going to try again unless something really bad happens. Which sucks for him. But who knows, maybe he does love them. As an over-invested fan myself, I feel pessimistic about it sometimes. But what can you do besides try not to let them ruin your experience. Shrug.

    • WilcoisAwesome Says:

The gloating is the worst. And the obvious disregarding of the fact he called them out on their insaneness. You only see/hear what you want to, I suppose.

  37. WilcoisAwesome Says:

Just listened to the KBIG stuff…HOLY SHIT.

Lisa: Have any fans ever crossed the line or did anyone do anything crazy?
*Audience of Regulars say “OOOHHHHH” and laugh (because they KNOW they have..)
David: So you’re basically asking me to call out everyone in the room..?

    and calling WehoScott out…is priceless!

    Fan-fucking-tastic.

    • nonna-muss Says:

OK, I couldn’t bring myself to watch/listen to this just thinking I would be seeing this guy’s crotch or thighs, but now I guess I have to listen to it based on what Wilco just said. Here I go…..if you don’t hear back from me, FDC knows where I am. Send help.

    • Thorazine Says:

Just listened to the whole interview… He cannot like these people, I refuse to believe him when he says he ‘loves’ his fans. These are the people he sees everywhere, all the time – the batshit crazy element for all he knows are his fanbase. One thing I give Lambert credit for, and I’m no fan of the glittery one, is his quite open contempt and mockery of his BSC fans. He doesn’t play nice or try to hide how much he despises them, And like little lap dogs they still eat him up. Must be some serious self esteem and psychological problems going on to take such blatant disrespect and abuse, and keep coming back for more. The Cook fans I think would be much the same. I see no shame or dignity or restraint or the concept of boundaries in a lot of their behavior, so I veer between laughing my ass off at them, and really pitying them for not having more pride, self esteem or dignity than to make Cook the focal point of their miserable lives. It goes beyond normal ‘fandom’ straight into nutso land. But it is grand entertainment for many of us, and as long as these fools want to keep humiliating themselves so willingly, I’ll keep LMAO at them.

    • burt Says:

Dammit! Sounds like it’s worth hearing, you’re making me want to listen to it now…

If he was mocking – and it sounds like it – he should show that awareness and humor more. As a “normal” fan I find it a little strange that when interviewed he says he’s “blessed” to have them and thanks them for loyalty etc, why not just say something more vague? Although maybe he’s actually talking about, and to, the “normal” fans who he (hopefully) does appreciate. It’s not like he can split them up in a Christmas message although that would be amazing!

Thorazine – it’s the lack of self-awareness and shame that I don’t understand. Even if I could go to all his appearances and had time/money, I wouldn’t because inside I’d think “man, he might notice and find it odd, I don’t want him to think I’m a weirdo”. That’s the missing link I guess. He’s not alone in having a “devoted” hardcore fan base, a lot of musicians do, not just AI people – seems it comes with the territory 😦 – I think he will get and does have other fans (people who happen to go to events or hear him on the radio) because he *is* talented and comes across well. Whether they get put off remains to be seen, it doesn’t put me us off so hopefully people will be like us!

  38. Karen Says:

Just the look on Neal’s face during this interview/show about said it all. He looked like he’d rather be anywhere but there, staring out at a bunch of moon-faced “diehards”. And the whole idea of a camera in someone’s crotch is about as creepy as it gets.

  39. nonna-muss Says:

I survived the crotch cam. I loved how he said *paraphrasing*–*do you want me to call out all the fans here?” when the hostess asked him about his ‘crazy fans’. I love that she barely had the words ‘crazy fans’ out of her mouth when she mentioned Wehoscott.

    • Jen Says:

He’s been crowing about that shoutout since and then lo and behold, it sounded more like David was brushing them off. And he only parroted back what the DJ had called Scott! If you ask me that is not the good kind of shoutout but judging by the hysterical giggling, they just don’t get that.

      • nonna-muss Says:

They will never, ever get it. Even if David himself told them to fuck off they’d think he was ‘kidding’. I actually think, based on another interview I heard this week, that Cook may *appreciate* the uber fans right now. He mentioned that he’s been off the radar for so long that he was nervous about who would still support him. He also mentioned that he would like to open for a bigger band to get more exposure to a different fanbase. It seems that by making both these statements he’s unclear about how he really feels. I’m sure it’s a double edged sword for him. I’ve also felt that he has no way of knowing what ‘normal’ fans think of the super fans. For all he knows everyone else things they’re the best thing since sliced bread and that if he was negative towards them in anyway he would alienate and piss off everyone. Especially after the blog where he got blasted for calling out OTT behavior.

      • Jen Says:

I can never quite decide how I feel about it. I mean, there are what? 50 or so uber creepy fans? So he’s gotta see that there are other fans who have stuck around, right? All those people at the Concert for Hope and Busch Gardens, the people at the radio things that aren’t in LA, the 3000+ that pre-ordered the album. After the shit he got from that blog, I just don’t think he’ll say something either way. He has to talk up his fans, everyone in his position does. But man, does he sound sarcastic in that video.

Also, we know Andrew has seen this place so I’d think there’s a possibility David has at least heard of it.

      • freedavidcook Says:

I can assure you David knows about this place even if he may not appreciate it. When I met him October 2009 I told him I was no fan but I was there to take photos of the worst of his stalkers for Idletard and for my site Free David Cook. He said nothing but I did see a look of understanding in those eyes before I wished him a good show and walked off. BTW, for the record I ran into him because he was avoiding his fans. He’d slipped out of a side door of the venue and RAN into Urban Outfitters where I was shopping after having filled my camera. I smiled at him and Andy, said, Hey I know who you are and he walked over to me. I was dressing nothing like his fans, I was wearing a wool wrap dress and tweed blazer and I’m in my 50s. So that tells me he is approachable if you are respectful of him and don’t act like a stalker.

      • freedavidcook Says:

And thanks for all the stories of who was and wasn’t there this weekend/week. I’ve been too obsessed by the news cycle about the death of Osama bin Laden to concentrate on shaking the bushes for bad behavior stories. I wonder sometimes if the fans just ignore everything going on around them, including world events and news, to continue with the hard core obsessing

    • burt Says:

I too have survived the video! Thoughts:

Hate all the ahhhh, nooooo noises that crowd were making – he’s not 5 years old! Love that someone still disagrees with him when he says he smells bad after a show!

I was pleased to discover that it’s not a video of ole Dave’s “rainbow”. As a bonus, it has good audio for a change. Crotch cam should maybe be used again just, you know, with a different name.

I dunno, the callouts sounded like they had meaning and he sounded a little uncomfortable talking about it but then he made a point of saying it was mostly at the start, he wants to be approachable, come smell me just not after a show etc. I wonder if he’s just accepted it, does appreciate their support even if not their enthusiasm and gets on with it. I wish they’d caught his face on that video though!

Something I’ve been thinking about (only loosely because I have a life!) is that as Jen said, the “dedicated” fans are only a small percentage of his fanbase – even of the more hardcore, not obsessed fans (i.e. people who follow his music closely, pre-ordered the album) so his gratitude is probably trying to reach those people who are actually the majority and isn’t aimed just at the diehard stalkers. He’s not dumb, he has to know there are normal fans out there beyond the usual faces he sees at nearly every show.

FDC’s story always makes me smile! It amuses me that David and co know about this place and although he might not appreciate comments on his appearance/criticisms of music, I do hope “they” take it as a sign that there are plenty of “normal” fans scratching our heads at the stuff we see just like they do. I hope they at least see it as a way to get opinions from a different group of people who can’t express them elsewhere (on forums we’d get slaughtered and on Twitter we’d get buried) even if it isn’t interactive. If only we knew who reads our ramblings… 🙂

      • freedavidcook Says:

You know why I started this joint? True story. The summer after his CD was released my teenaged daughter and I were in Florida with the family and we went out to hit some of the stores. Came across this HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ass crowd of women in my age group milling around, standing in line, making racket, wearing t-shirts with some guy’s photo on it. I asked someone what was going on and was told that they were waiting for ‘Dave’ Dave who? I had to ask. Before I got a complete answer the tour bus pulled up and I got to witness some crazy going on. Started me thinking, between that and the tales at VFTW and the now defunct Idletard that being a male Idol must really just suck. Having come out of Tarddom over some dumb actor I knew some of what was in the minds of the tards and knew just how foolish and useless their actions were. I just had to comment on it. Here I am.

      • burt Says:

Interesting! I always wondered why you started this blog. It must be a very weird thing to go into Idol with a normal life and then come out to that kind of attention. I hope they get a little warning!

I have to ask – who was the actor, FDC?

      • WilcoisAwesome Says:

I hear ya. I mean – you take the good with the bad in this business. You’re going to have some crazies, it’s just a matter of recognizing that not ALL fans are like that. On one hand it’s awesome that a select few people breathed this guy day and night but it’s okay to step back – dude knows what you’ve done, you don’t need to tweet him 15 times a day and follow him to every single show.

  40. Dani Says:

Jen what blog are you referring to above that he got shit about?

    • nonna-muss Says:

      Here’s the link http://mjsbigblog.com/david-cook-calls-out-his-scary-fans.htm

      Here’s what he said:

      ” ATTENTION!
      Hey everyone,
First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing.

Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you.

I hope this doesn’t come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show.”

This was written after someone tried to attach a GPS tracking device to his tour bus. He got raked over the coals by the press for writing this because they thought he seemed ungrateful. The press has NO idea what this poor guy goes through. He’ll never be able to address the situation again.

      • Jen Says:

Not to mention that I’m pretty sure they all just assumed he wasn’t talking about them anyway.

And I agree with you. I’m not sure there’s anything he can do about it now besides withdraw. Things would probably have to be really bad for him to try to address it again.

      • on the edge Says:

The press doesn’t care…their attitude is that the moment you choose to be a public figure, you forfeit all rights to privacy. That’s the unwritten rule. Besides, restricting access to crazy fans = restricting access to paparazzi media in their minds.

      • Dani Says:

Oh THAT blog. Thought there was a new one. Being in AC that weekend sure was a long strange trip. Like 48 hours of non-stop crazy. Ahhh good memories. If we got 3 hours sleep that was a lot.

  41. Dani Says:

OMG for much of that video his forehead looks like a giant lightbulb with hair sprouting up out of it!

  42. SeenTheLight Says:

I have to wonder at times about the reasoning behind some of the actions of his record label. The latest is having fans send their mom an electronic greeting card that includes a video message from him. SERIOUSLY?!?!

    • on the edge Says:

If I didn’t know any better I’d swear RCA is out to sabotage all their Idols so they’ll have an excuse to dump them from the label (maybe Universal will sign them all?).

That or they’ve reached the final stage of grief…acceptance that these are in fact the majority of his fans and that the “sane” ones are actually the exceptions.

    • Jen Says:

Eh, I thought it was cute. I’ll send one to my mom and she’ll laugh and roll her eyes but she likes him, in a non-crazy way. haha

    • Thorazine Says:

OMG, this is some ridiculously juvenile shit. This is more on the level of some Justin Beiber silly fangirl stuff – tween and teen girls get off on this kind of stuff, but David is a grown ass man – this just plays on the emotions of his already emotionally unstable BSC fans, and milks them for all they’re worth. Come on David, you a grown ass man, you can do better than this. Don’t have me invoke the ‘s’ word, lol. I pity the fool or the child of mine crazy enough to send me an ecard from a stranger on Mother’s Day – no… just – no.

      • WilcoisAwesome Says:

Perhaps they are, indeed, trying to appeal to a younger crowd. At any rate, it’s merely a seasonal promotional tool to tide people over and essentially spread the word to other potential fans. Yes – most of the people it’s going to get sent to are going to moms, for the obvious reason, but who knows – maybe some younger people will use it to send to each other because OMGZ HE’S SO HANDSOME!

      • Thorazine Says:

The Beiber set I think are unlikely to find Cook OMG Handsome, lol. The scruffy beard may be the holdup there, and the new hair is all wrong – needs to be longer and feathered, or hidden under a fly hat ala Bruno Mars. If all else fails, then he can leak a sex tape, or tweet a pic of himself in his drawers to reel ’em in 🙂

      • Burt Says:

I wonder if his “people” (and by that I don’t mean fans!) give everything as much thought as some people here?

It does seem random but it’s a one-off and at least it’s something different. Maybe he’s being nice, I doubt anyone is holding a gun to his head saying “David, record a message to all the mums NOW”. I guess it’s aimed at his younger audience and I’m not going to complain at that.

I might send it to my mum. She has no idea who he is but I’m intrigued! I wonder how many people are requesting it for themselves for that reason? 😀

      • freedavidcook Says:

I signed up for it for myself just out of sheer curiosity, like buying those official Harry Potter Jelly Bellies in flavors like ‘dirt’ and ‘vomit’ We will see. However I will not sending it to my mom or other moms I know. That’s just weird.

      • Burt Says:

They wouldn’t aim for Beiber fans, it would never happen and nor should it. The holdup isn’t the beard but his age and music – not in a negative way but it just wouldn’t appeal. You have put an image in my head of him styled as Beiber though!

Maybe they’re not trying to reel anyone in. I don’t think I actually care!

      • Dani Says:

I sent it to myself out of curiousity too. Once I realized I didn’t have to pay for it, of course. I mean, where can you get anything for FREE these days, right?

  43. Jen Says:

That link to MJ’s that Nonna posted reminded me of the story of David being chased out of the bar in West Virginia. FDC, any intel on that? My friend and I always figured it was KrunkJess et al.

    • freedavidcook Says:

No info on that one but I have heard that he’s had to ditch a number of times at after gig bars because the same old gang of idiots finds out where he is and pesters him silly. Particularly if he’s chatting up any nice looking young lady.

Heard that this happened just as he was getting something to eat with the band in Charlottesville, VA gig. He got up and left as they arrived, leaving his food on the table. A few minutes later the pest crew left, he came in moments later and finished his meal. Now does that sound like the actions of someone in love with his biggest crazies? Sounds like survival skills to me.

      • Burt Says:

That sounds like him wanting private time and a bit of peace and quiet. I’m guessing a lot of touring bands/singers have that issue, not that it makes it right. Anyway, although I said I don’t think he’s as bothered by them as we think he is, I definitely don’t mean that he wants to hang out with them in his free time. Clearly some fans make his life difficult and wouldn’t be on his Christmas card list but today I was listening to the interview I mentioned last week. When talking about his brother’s death/Race for Hope he started crying and said (paraphrasing) how the fan reaction to the announcement (the gasp you hear on the video) made him realize their support and appreciate them. Some audio is muffled and I definitely don’t think he was crying in gratitude for the fans, seemed like he got upset with the emotion of the weekend, but it was a genuine moment that clearly took him by surprise and in that situation I don’t think he’d be sucking up to the fans for the sake of it.

How many fans are in the core diehard group that follow him on tour? Never been able to work it out. This again makes me wonder, like Twitter, whether he’d act differently if they calmed down. If they weren’t so keen maybe he would hang out with them occasionally, or at least not run when in the same bar. Sad they don’t have that perspective!

    • Dani Says:

Was that the same night one of “them” opened the door on Neal in the men’s room and got a look at his junk? (his word, not mine)

  44. burt Says:

I saw one of the most random tweets ever earlier and I can’t not share it:

“Hmmm, I wonder if @thedavidcook is an organ donor?”

Sometimes there are just no words!

    • freedavidcook Says:

Organ donor? Is he smashed on the side of the road like a bug or is this tard just trying to decide if they should sign up for it too Most odd

      • burt Says:

Or sizing him up for parts?!

A quick look at their timeline shows they had been talking about a relative who was a donor. The tweet about him was next but the only one wondering if a specific person was a donor. Some people have no idea how odd things look on their own and that sometimes it’s best kept in their head!

  45. on the edge Says:

He tweeted a picture of his FEET earlier (don’t ask me why, I just report) and now all the frauen have developed foot fetishes. Just…just go look at his feed. I’m going to bed.

    …not feet, FEED.

  46. Karen Says:

    From Twitter:

thedavidcook Music video glamour. #sandyfeet http://t.co/Pogk6P4
about 10 hours ago via Twitter for iPhone

Discuss. I can’t –feet creep me out.

    • nonna-muss Says:

I quite purposely did not look at his twitter feed last night because I knew it would be creepy.

      • freedavidcook Says:

Feet? Not attractive at all. Ugh. I don’t talk about feet.

      • on the edge Says:

Just as an FYI, my husband is also creeped out by feet. I mean I think he has a genuine phobia of feet…he calls them “freaky.” If you REALLY think about it…why toes? Why toenails, other than to paint them pretty colors?

Damn, now I’M beginning to think they’re freaky…*puts shoes back on*

      • freedavidcook Says:

Cook has freaky looking fingers/fingernails and those toes aren’t any better. I just don’t get why the hardcore tards tard over some of his body parts. Ugh.

      • burt Says:

I purposely did look because I knew it would be full of LOLs. I wasn’t wrong.

I don’t know if he was being random or if it was a “guys this will get them going” moment (because he must have those, right?) but either way, it strangely made me like him even more. But not because of his feet. Any feet are weird. I mean, really aside from helping us stand, what’s their point?

      • Karen Says:

Wasn’t he originally a nail-biter? Seems to me the early post-Idol pics showed much evidence of that. Excuse me for being gross but–those toe nails look like they have met the same fate as his finger nails have met in the past.
And I am a big fan of Mr Cook — just not the majority of his body parts, bitten or otherwise.

    • Dani Says:

They are pretty fugly. I had a friend years ago that had an ingrown nail on her big toe and after a couple of surgeries her nail looked like his do. Maybe it was his way of throwing a bucket of cold water on his overheated herd?

      • WilcoIsAwesome Says:

No way man, they all find it sexy. And if they don’t find it immediately sexy, some are offering foot massages, pedicures, and to straight up bite his toenails for him.

      • freedavidcook Says:

“some are offering foot massages, pedicures, and to straight up bite his toenails for him.”

Gak! Gag!!!! I don’t care how fine the man is the whole idea of that is just beyond inappropriate and gross.

  47. riley Says:

So I am a horrible daughter. I am sending my mother the David Cook ecard because I know she hates him. Well that’s what she gets thinking it was funny to give me Justin Beiber’s cd for christmas. But that’s my family for you.

As for feet. Seriously I think he is now trying to freak out his fans and instead it shows him they are bigger freaks then he thought. Now excuse me has a vomit.

    • freedavidcook Says:

I got mine this morning and i have to say I’m amused it is so lame. If I’m getting an ecard featuring a young man there should be stripping or booty waving or something more exciting than one spieled out line with a photo of him looking freaking horrified scared. But perhaps it is all the tequila I just consumed coloring my perceptions of him trying to do something ‘nice’ for the fan base *coughcougholdladyfrauscough*

  48. riley Says:

BTW I want to say I am so happy I discovered this site and I am not alone

  49. ……..A few weeks ago on American Idol David Cook announced that he was single. Cowell also declared that Cooks finalist competitor David Archuletta had beaten him in the final sing-off — but fans disagreed making Cook the winner by 12 million votes…So is it time to stop listening to Cowell?
