Ladynsearch Sees David Cook

….at the Chicago House of Blues.

Her review from DCO

I had the perfect night at the David Cook House of Blues Chicago Show.
Just amazing! Just perfect! I could not have asked for a better David Cook show experience.

First there was a great vibe while waiting for the VIP experience. It was fun talking with other fans. And Andrew really did a great job!

The soundcheck was so much fun. Got to hear “Take Me As I Am” finally and he did “b****”. lol.

Then I got to meet the man and the band. At the point where I was in line they were speeding it up. But, I was determined to get my hug this time. Lol. I had rehearsed my intro to him at home. And while in line was formulating how it would go when I got to him.

While I was in line talked with Andrew and introduced myself as Vicki ladynsearch and he was funny and gave a kinda whoop or woo hoo. Lol I asked if this was his job now. He said yes and I asked what happened with the internship, he said he quit because they didn’t want to pay him enough or something like that. I also met David’s dad briefly and said “Nice to meet you.”

When I got there, I first put down the presents (early birthday for him) and identified each bag briefly. Then I said I am Vicki ladynsearch. He seemed to recognize with kinda like a raised eyebrow and like oh okay type look. Very pleasant. I then said “Can I have a hug?” And so got one. YES! It was a nice strong one too! Then he put his arm around me for the pic. Somewhere in there I asked for everyone to autograph my “This Quiet Night” CD booklet and they did. And I shook hands with the whole band after the pic and even David.

Then the show!!! As soon as David and the band came on, wow you could feel the power, the intensity. Throughout the show, you knew it was a ROCK SHOW and David was a true ROCKSTAR as were each of the band members. Besides loving watching and listening to David perform, I also really enjoyed watching Devin. And he licked his guitar once. He was amazing. And Kyle did just an amazing extremely long drum solo at the end of the Zeppelin Rock and Roll cover. The crowd begging for more so he gave more. The crowd was like that throughout the show, really “whooing” throughout showing David the love and the band as well.

The show was just a blast! They truly rocked Chicago’s House of Blues! It was extremely clear you were at a ROCK SHOW!

I was so glad David performed Right Here With You (asked for it at soundcheck but they did not do it then). I love that song, one of my favorites on This Loud Morning. And I really hoped for Life On The Moon (shouted out to play it during show, not sure they even heard me) and then later they performed it. I cried throughout that performance. It is my favorite live.

The only drawback to the show was my feet were killing me so finally took my shoes off and stood on my coat for cushioning. Lol

There were a few mishaps like some were throwing things on the stage. And one item hit Kyle’s drum set. David remarked something like: so now you are throwing makeup. What do think this is a “rave”? Lol David finally told them to knock off throwing stuff on stage, forcefully and with tact and so they stopped.

The other thing that happened is a guy had to be removed from the front of the stage interrupting the end of Life On The Moon so I never got to hear that nice high note he does at the end.

Also Carolina Liar did not perform because Chad’s wife’s water broke.
But then later during the show everyone but Chad came on stage with champagne and David took a swig. He then had champagne burps later stressing them. lol

I was so happy, I should say thrilled, to have been to this show. They did 22 songs! Wow! And the crowd went wild for them. Chicago really showed David and the band the love. I screamed and whooed throughout. Lol I and some others started chanting David when they left the stage and they came back and did 4 more songs for the encore!

To sum it up it was the best night ever. And IMO the best show on this tour! But then I was there. 

p.s. Thank you David and guys! I will cherish this forever!

Vicki aka ladynsearch

Andrew recognized her and it sounds like Cook did too.. Ha! I wonder how many scrapbooks were in all her bags and what garbage bin they’re resting in now? Delusional.

  1. nonna-muss Says:

I would die a thousand deaths if any of them recognized me because I’ve been to so many shows or because I tweet them incessantly. I would honestly die of embarrassment.

*on the other hand, it would be fun to introduce myself as nonna and see if it garners any reaction.

    • AmyB Says:

You don’t know how happy I was when I read they were rushed through. I know she was tweeting with that cooklover1 chick about kissing him. And now she locked her account after trying to start some crap about David’s personal life. But that does not belong here. I wonder what she would of done if she had more time? Shudder at the thought

    • AmyB Says:

I don’t know who’s reaction to her introducing herself was better David’s or Andrew’s? Wonder what there dad thought of her. Would of loved to have been a fly on the wall for that convo. Does anyone know what she looks like? Would love to see that pic. Wonder where she’s groping him?

  2. “Then I said I am Vicki ladynsearch. He seemed to recognize with kinda like a raised eyebrow and like oh okay type look”

Which was more likely a ‘Jebus help me’ kind of look.

  3. Black Angel Says:

It was extremely clear you were at a ROCK SHOW!

This is something only a grannie would say.

  4. Nist Says:

Mainedcfan on DCO (she’s on twitter but I don’t remember her name) flew from Maine to Iowa to see David. She is currently discussing (both on DWOP and in her recap) about her very specific “touching” of David during VIP:

(recap) “David was talking to the photographer, then stepped back in the line & reached for my waist so I stepped in for the pic, putting both arms around him for it. The photographer said “is that good?” to David & before David could answer, I said “NO, you need to take at least 5 more pics to get it right” (jokingly) and laughed. I think David probably laughed but I don’t remember (I hope he did – lol). As I was saying that, I gave his chest a light pat then rubbed it….OMG, I felt his chest hair!!”

(DWOP) “OMG, I guess I’m just glad I managed to stay upright and smile…not trip, not faint, not spit while talking…lol! Oh and did I mention I rubbed his chest and felt his CHEST HAIR?!?! GAH!!!!”

*eyeroll* *sigh for the hopelessly rude tards who will NEVER realize they are rude*

    • Black Angel Says:

Can you imagine having a creepy grandma’s hand on your chest? Eww!

    • burt Says:

What is it with their obsessions over normal features? It’s like watching teenagers discovering men for the first time. It’s very odd. He’s. Just. A. Normal. Man. (And if you wouldn’t fondle a stranger on the street, why do it to a stranger you’ve paid to spend a couple of minutes with?)

    • Karen D Says:

Isn’t that the one who used to bitch at Neal for what he tweeted? That he had to be careful because there were children following him?

    • What she really meant to say was:

“As I was saying that, I gave his NOSE a light pat then rubbed it….OMG, I felt his NOSE hair!!”

    • AmyB Says:

I just got sick for him. I wonder if she goes up to people on the street and does this? They do this kind of creepy crap then brag about it, like they want a medal or something. What they need is a good Psych consolation.

    • songkat7 Says:

I’m reminded of people commenting on the video of that chick who ran her fingers down his bicep, side, hip and thigh during a show on the last tour when he was in the audience. Comments to the video included people saying that it she had probably crossed a line, yet “I understand why you couldn’t resist, I would have done the same.”

Couldn’t resist? Are they animals who have no control over their actions?

      • MK Says:

He’s not a real person to them. He’s more like an exhibit at the zoo. I’d love for one of them to stick their hand through the cage and pull back a nub because the tiger got tired of the petting.

If he’d start filing charges, maybe the kissing, groping, inappropriate touching, etc will stop. Maybe if they had to actually get a lawyer and go to court, they’d think twice about treating him like an object.

  5. burt Says:

“And I shook hands with the whole band after the pic and even David.”

Wow what a man he is! Not only does he put on a ROCK SHOW (“it was ROCK you hear me?”) but he also shakes hands. Amazing.

Just the thought of anyone recognizing my name because you tweet them in that way, or because you’ve been to a 100 M&Gs, is terrifying. But I’ve been reading the older posts here and if it’s true he’s been reading here then the thought of him recognizing my name is just plain funny.

(Hi everyone! It’s been a while but it’s kind of reassuring that nothing ever changes!)

  6. Rubber Ducky Says:

I bet they’re very familiar with her obsessive online scrapbook threads on DCO *shudders* I hope she gave him hard copies to treasure forever.

    • AmyB Says:

Don’t forget her Posture what ever it is. She’ll post pictures and videos there that are other peoples, just so people see them. Like we couldn’t just search if we wanted to. Then she never gives credit to the owner of them. And gets upset when someone doesn’t thank her for posting them. Like she did some great thing.

  7. Ali Says:

Hey burt, nothing changes because the delusion is deeper than the tunnel to China lol! And nonna I’m sure he would want to kiss you if you told him who you were lol! That ladynsearch recap just proves that they will never get how creepy they really are.

    • freedavidcook Says:

How much longer before one of them loses control and tries to joggle his junk in her hot plump hand?

      • Rubber Ducky Says:

Any minute now. He’s letting these freaks touch him as is. It’s inevitable. He may as well list it on the items to buy

        “Meet & Greet $75”

        “Grope my dick $100”

        “Teabagging $150”

      • AmyB Says:

I’m waiting for Iluvdcyes or Nycarole426 to do that. Don’t they both have shows coming up? No wait it will be that MySunshine1967 that will do it. She is beyond creepy

      • Ali Says:

Haha teabagging for $150? What a bargain lol!

      • JennPaz Says:

I believe iluvdcyes will be doing the M&G this Saturday night, and apparently she has a “plan.” Whatever that means…

  8. Amusedbyfandom Says:

“He seemed to recognize with a kinda of raised eyebrow and like oh okay type look” <—-THIS is kind of mind numbing. What about this is a compliment to her? Jesus! I would hope the earth opened up and swallowed me. The shame would be so great, lol. What normal person would introduce themselves to a celeb with their twitter account name, the name you use to tweet him nonsense all damn day and night.

She is beyond clueless and the other one, Maine whatever. As others have pointed out if a man rubbed a women's chest or touched her ass uninvited it would be considered an assault. These people have no respect for David or themselves. The next m&g's will probably be with a glass petition in between David and fans, lol. We'll have these creeps to thank for fucking it up for the normal fans.

    • songkat7 Says:

Hear Hear! They already have fucked up the fans being able to take a few pictures during soundcheck.

Speaking of which, I read that a bunch of entitled tards whipped out their cameras and started taking photos and video during the KC soundcheck, after they’d been told not to. After the first song, David went back to the microphone that the band/crew hears, said something, and Andrew and a crewmember came out and told them to put the cameras away. Some took their time about it.

You know what? They’re like children! Maybe they’ll listen if they were talked to as such.

“Now, now, be good little boys and girls, behave yourselves, don’t hit each other, keep your hands to yourselves, when I say no I mean no…do you want a time out?”

      • AmyB Says:

Well the entittled tards like that Angela whatever her name is was there. Yes what part of no camera’s do they not understand? If they don’t understand and respect the no kissing why would they respect the camera policy.

      • songkat7 Says:

I recently found out my sister had a very unpleasant experience with Angie in another fandom a few years prior to Idol; she and I were both not surprised that we were talking about the same person when I told her about Angie’s antics in this fandom.

    • Karen D Says:

      Ooh songkat, what other fandom?

  9. JennPaz Says:

    So….. I couldn’t tell from her recap….. was it a rock show?? 😉

    • AmyB Says:

I couldn’t tell by her recap myself… was it a rock show??? Thought maybe it was a clogging act.

      • freedavidcook Says:

He needs to the Pope Mobile to ride through his surging pack of weirdos instead of doing M&Gs

      • burt Says:

FDC that’s the funniest image I’ve had all day. I want him to do it for a joke now. He could offer them the option to decorate the Pope Mobile too – just imagine that, TARD ART!

  10. AmyB Says:

Rubber Ducky Alright I’ll play. One’s for the tards on a budget.
    Rub my chest hairs $75
Stare at my ass while the pic is being taken $50 touch my ass extra
    Touch my beard $45

    • MK Says:

I can see it now: “I have $300, can I touch, rub, slap, pinch and kiss your ass?” He’d make a fortune!

Then, of course, there will be the tweets: “Ackkkk! I need to sell a kidney so I can rub his ass at all 50 shows I’m going to!!! #liferuiner #dcrml” “BeckySue rubbed his ass for a full 30 seconds! I only got 29 seconds! I counted. He ripped me off. Next time, I’m gonna make him drop his pants so I can put my hand on his ass. He owes me that much for that extra second I was cheated of.”

      • AmyB Says:

I can also see it ” He had on tighter jeans when you got to rub it, so you got a better feel then I did”

I forgot about the Leg people.

“Lick the back of my knee $55”
        “Rub my upper thigh $50
” Run your hand along my calf $45″

    • MK Says:

      Don’t forget the arm people!

      Rub my right bicep: $50
      Rub my left bicep: $50
Rub both biceps: $75 (best deal!)
      Kiss my right bicep: $75
      Kiss my left bicep: $75
Kiss both biceps: $135 (best deal!)

  11. WilcoisAwesome Says:

I’m really interested in the teabagging deal. Maybe.

    wait…..what?! WHO AM I!

    • AmyB Says:

He could make a fortune. Oh that’s right he has some self respect unlike these tards.

      • Rubber Ducky Says:

Not for long. Album’s a flop, RCA will probably drop him soon. He’ll need the money.

      • JennPaz Says:

LOL Yeah, he could probably make more money off charging the tards to touch him then selling albums! But would they still love him if he didn’t sing??

And please, don’t give iluvdcyes any ideas about licking the back of his right knee….. because I have a feeling she would probably do something as crazy as that!

      • Black Angel Says:

I have his album and it’s not really very good at all. I’m not even sure why I bought it. Hard to believe he thinks it’s good. His post-Idol album is 10 times better.

        It’s a shame. He’s got a great voice.

      • freedavidcook Says:

You know I’m not a fan of his music but I have to admit he does have a great voice. Recently I viewed his Idol turn singing “The Music Of The Night” and his voice was just absolutely spot on perfect. My only criticism of the performance was that he was also spot on for every Broadway/Movie version of the song. His was a copy of a copy of a copy with the exact pauses/inflections, etc. His voice was awesome but he failed to make it his. I’m sure the fault was not entirely his own. The Idol vocal coaches probably insisted on the rote performance and he’s Mr. Bar Band, singing endless covers.

I am wondering on the problem of his second album flopping is perhaps he didn’t receive the careful grooming and production values of the first one from 19E. I am betting there was not nearly the professional help as the first album. Which is kinda sad, because he could have had a real career in the business if he’d have turned out a better product this time AND shaken the crazy tards off his tail. Now he’s known as someone that won a karaoke contest who has tons of little old ladies panting after him. He’d have been better off staying at the bar.

Shoot! I’m starting to sound half tard on my daddy’s side. This is not good.

      • JennPaz Says:

Yeah, I’m not too keen on TLM either (hope no tards read that and attack me! lol) I like a few of the songs, but that’s it. I actually like Analog Heart the best, and imo that’s the sound he should go back to. But what do I know about the music biz…

      • nonna-muss Says:

FDC is turning tard on us!! Actually FDC, in his bar days he didn’t do covers, he’s always done original songs he’s written since he was 15 and got started. I think this album had TOO much professional help and caused the over production quality I hear. As someone said somewhere on here, I prefer the lesser production of his pre-Idol CD Analog Heart. You can just hear his voice, no bells and whistles.

      • freedavidcook Says:

He’s obviously doing something wrong if the CD has tanked so badly. Perhaps he does need to return to a simpler time. Part of the problem is the type of rock he plays seems to be dying out. The music industry is going through one of those crazy shifts again.

      • Fluffy Says:

I’m in camp “overproduced” too, though I like a handful of songs from the album. But it’s telling that I like them *all* better live, and my favorite on the album “Goodbye to the Girl” I love much more on the acoustic album.

I love Analog Heart. His voice lends well to rawness, and when you smooth all the edges off it, it loses some of what makes it powerful. I’d love to see less production and more focus on vocals. Guess we’ll see what we get next, whatever that might be. I’ll take acoustic stuff from his own studio anytime?

        OK. Tard babble/ended.

      • Fluffy Says:

FDC, I think you’re right there, too – the music that he’s making isn’t popular, at all. And I do think he waited way too long to put this record out, and the first single was a flop to boot. Might have had better luck with album sales if the first single had any success, but it didn’t… and then they let it hang out there dying for way too long.

      • Black Angel Says:

I think the songs just aren’t very good.

      • sansdelusions Says:

Just to put a few things into perspective regarding the reports of the “death” of Cook’s career. OK firstly, yeah, I am in agreement that TLM turned out to be a bit of a hot mess. Don’t really know how it got derailed but somewhere along the way it went sideways. I also agree it was WAY overproduced, again, as was DCTR but in a different way. Wrong first single choice. Didn’t resonate on radio, bad marketing and management all around.

Now to my point. Just to compare other RCA artists. Avril Lavigne was recently in my town (September or October – can’t remember) and she played in an arena that holds 18,000 max (sporting events). Now, let’s say for a concert set up you want to seat 10,000.

She pulled in fewer than 4000 peeps. And that was Avril.

Considering how “big” she is compared to David – for example I saw her album being hawked on TV, she was a guest judge on Idol last year or the year before, I’ve seen her in TV commercials, she has her own line of some such product, etc., etc., well you get my drift. I think she is on her 3rd single now from Goodbye Lullaby and I don’t see any of her songs so far as being barn burners. So considering how long she’s been around and how well she is known – was this album that much more successful comparatively speaking than Cook’s and more importantly do you really think RCA is gonna ditch her?

Then there’s Gavin de Graw, who has been an RCA artist for YEARS. I never heard of him before this year and no one I know ever heard of him either – which means nothing that’s true (I live under a rock after all) – except he’s not exactly a name artist a la a Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, type either. Now his single – Not Over You – doing pretty darn well on HAC – if not in the top 10 then it’s close. But his ALBUM sold only 34K the first week compared to Cook’s at 46M.

So, are we saying if an album doesn’t reach at least gold status in the US – then the artist is a failure? If this is true then we would have very slim picken’s for music to listen to cuz the labels would be dropping artists like flies. I only know the stats for 2010 when out of literally hundreds of albums released a grand total of 13 got to platinum – so this means everything else is a flop? Really? Then read this:

“The first thing to keep in mind is reasonable expectations for the sale of an album. The music industry publishes tens of thousands of new albums every year, and only a small percentage of them are going to go gold (500,000 records sold) or platinum (1,000,000 records sold). You have about a 1-in-20 chance of producing an album that is a major hit.”

Jus’saying that these predictions of Cook’s career demise are a bit premature.

ETA: Well at least AI and Simon Fuller still love him – one of his (IMHO) overwrought anthemic type songs – We Believe – was used in their new promo last night…

      • nonna-muss Says:

I don’t think his career is over at all. I read the other day that TLM has sold 103K. With the way all music sales are right now, that’s not that shabby.

No, TLM & DCTR are not my favorite works by him. However live they become my favorites. He puts on a great live show, although lately I’m not seeing the fun he used to seem like he was having on stage. He still sounds great and his band is tighter than tight, but he just seems like he’s forcing himself the last handful of shows. Maybe my perception is wrong though, who knows.

      • sansdelusions Says:

Interesting observation about his live shows Nonna. Are these shows that you actually attended or watched on U-stream? I do agree overall that this tour vibe is totally diff from the last, neverending, tour. I wonder now what’s gonna happen in Cooktardlandia after December 10th? I mean as far as I know there is NOTHING booked, sure I hear talk of a Euro tour, but nothing more, just talk, and nothing for NYE either – so I suppose a major meltdown is right around the corner. That should be entertaining 😉

      • nonna-muss Says:

No, I haven’t attending any shows and I’m one of the ones who chooses not the watch the ustreams. I see videos and he just looks….bored. I’m the type of person that looks at someone’s eyes to get a feel for what’s going on. I just don’t see the “spark” for lack of a better term. Sorry, can’t think of a way to say it without sounding tardy. lol. Everyone looks at his smile in the meet and greet photos to gauge his reaction to certain guests, I look at his eyes. They’re either smiling or they’re not. He’s had ‘dead eye’ for the last couple of shows (except for Council Bluffs).

I’d like to say, I do this for everyone, not just Cook. I don’t want to get classified as an ‘Eye Tard’ for crying out loud. 😀

      • burt Says:

I agree that talk of his career being over is premature – he’s doing OK compared to others and he’s making a living from playing music which thousands of artists would love to do. David is also not a typical “star” – he doesn’t seem to want to go to parties, events and all that stuff, doesn’t want to be in magazines for the “wrong” reason so that makes it much harder to keep his name out there especially when he wasn’t on the scale of other artists to begin with.

I like TLM but there are songs I find a bit “meh” – IMO it’s way overproduced, it’s like they just spent too long on it (but what do I know, I’m not him). I posted about this before but there was a video clip where he said he didn’t want it to be a “vocal technique record” and that’s where I hear the biggest problem. He sounds good but nowhere near as good as when he plays live, even if just acoustically with little backing, and I wonder if he actually appreciates that. His biggest talent is his voice but somewhere along the way when it’s recorded, it gets lost.

      • freedavidcook Says:

That’s kind of one of those things that you have not much control over, like stage presence, you either have it or you don’t. It sounds like his voice doesn’t translate well to recording. It’s just one of those things.

Not suggesting his career is dead, just that this second CD was poorly done, over produced or under produced both suck. The current musical tastes aren’t helping either. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

      • sansdelusions Says:

I kinda disagree somewhat about his voice on TLM; I actually think it does come through a lot better than on DCTR – which seemed to have this overlay on a lot of tracks of, oh, I don’t know what that sound is honestly – but I always call it “white noise” it just muddies everything up to my ears – but TLM didn’t have that problem. His voice on GTTG is perfect, clear and gorgeous.

My main prob is that SO many of the songs on TLM use the same songwriting-by-the-numbers approach, verse, verse, big loud overpowering chorus, verse, bridge, chorus etc.. I mean I could name the prime offenders but all you have to do is listen! I downloaded that Hodges co-write “Stars” as well, and surprise, surprise, SAME format. Even the lyrics are similar to several TLM songs.

So I am a bit confused about the writing team of Cook-Hodges with all these same-same music and lyrics, but then OTOH they gave us Circadian and REM…which I think are great songs. I also kind of like With Me Empty and would love to hear Cook “cover” that one! Heh.

Finally, since I am blathering on instead of actually working here, it seems that he is playing a LOT of songs from DCTR on this tour and not so many from TLM or is that a misperception on my part? *shrugs* I also have never seen a U-stream, but sometimes I look at the setlist on DCO and it seems to me that DCTR is still getting a lot of love from him.

      • burt Says:

Don’t get me wrong, I still think it sounds good and on some TLM tracks it sounds amazing, it’s just that to my ears it gets lost in the music on some others. If I had never seen Idol or seen any acoustic videos I wouldn’t know any different to be fair. FDC might be right that it doesn’t translate as well when recorded (again not that it translates badly just not as good as live) but it could also be that he plays it down a little. It just never seems as raw and I wonder if it’s lost in the takes, mastering etc. But on the other hand, there are songs so challenging that he can’t actually sing them live – so it’s certainly not that he’s holding back. Not sure how sensible it is to have tracks you can’t sing live either.

As for the formula of songs, hasn’t it always been that way? DCTR seems to use a similar format. Not saying it’s bad but I think when there’s a lot of it, it becomes overpowering. I still need to listen to the other co-writes that have appeared in various places.

Speaking of the live shows, I’ve not been paying much attention but does anyone know where the best recordings of the covers are (from shows, not the forbidden soundcheck ones)? Curious to hear them and don’t want to trawl though the thousands of youtube videos. The last one I heard was a bad recording of the Muse cover and while I thought it was good, I definitely didn’t think it was better than the original like the tards on Twitter claim. Have they claimed all his covers are better than the originals?

Sansdelusions: when I first heard With Me Empty, I thought Andy and Neal should’ve let David have it to record for himself. I think it could’ve been a big hit for him, the one that could’ve helped shed the Idol stigma.

      • Nist Says:

Re: Looking bored: Sometimes I think that David is a GREAT singer but maybe not the best singer for fronting a band, if that makes any sense. One thing that I find odd (and oddly I don’t remember this from my show on the Declaration tour) is when you watch him on the YouTubes lately, he doesn’t seem to have any idea how to be a showman, as lead singers often are. When Devin is playing a solo or Andy/Kyle sing the end of Let Me Fall For You, David usually seems totally detached, chewing his gum (sometimes I really hate the gum chewing), walking to the drum kit to drink his water or sometimes walking off to the side of the stage. Occasionally he wiggles his fingers to have the crowd be louder but that’s it for crowd interaction. I don’t know, a lot of lead singers who aren’t playing a solo at the shows I go to dance around/move around during it and are still into the music. David only seems to be into it when he’s singing.

He also seems to be lost without his guitar now. At a show a couple of weeks ago where the guitar tech messed up David’s guitars a couple of times, to the point where David couldn’t play them on at least two songs (Paper Heart and REM) until they were fixed (Methinks that guitar tech will quietly be let go after Dec. 10) Anyway, on the tubies, David looked completely uncomfortable and awkward at the mike IMO without his guitar, when he used to be able to project star quality just standing at the mike, and move around the stage with great ease. At least I thought so.

It seems like he’s lost some skills by being off the road so long, and maybe regressed somewhat. He also may be hesitant to dance around because so many tards go stark raving mad if he moves his hips even a little bit. 🙂

      • Nist Says:

Just to add: Watch David’s cover of Rock and Roll. While he *sounds* completely awesome on it, his stage presence during it is sorely lacking, IMO. (Though lately he seems to come alive a bit during Kyle’s drum solos!) Nobody’s asking him to be a rock god or whatever the tards love to call him ;-), but come on…

Re: Gavin DeGraw – He’s VERY well known around people I know and has been for several years. Bruno Mars is fairly talented and is the flavor of the month, but Gavin has been around a lot longer, and for a while “I Don’t Want To Be” was covered on Idol frequently. I’m actually really surprised he’s not selling better. Maybe he’s more of a one-hit wonder? But that one hit was *massive* and allows him to still be famous today. That’s what David doesn’t have under his belt.

Except Time of My Life. Which he refuses to play. 😉 (And I don’t blame him!)

      • freedavidcook Says:

Stage craft is very important and it sounds like he doesn’t have it for this tour. I wonder why? You should at least feint that you’re making crowd eye contact.

      • Nist Says:

He does still make a good amount of eye contact with the crowd while he’s singing and while he’s talking. He can still be very charming! It’s just when someone else is soloing/there’s an instrumental part he doesn’t seem to have any idea what to do with himself anymore.

      • sansdelusions Says:

Yeah I have to agree on his stage presence this tour versus last tour. He does seem to be detached a lot of the time, wandering around the stage aimlessly, etc. I think it was just the ONE time (1st show?) that he went into the crowd, where some tard mauled him I suppose, followed by the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ and since then he’s been a complete homebody, stage-wise. I dunno. Maybe with being pawed and fawned over at all these M&Gs night after night he just doesn’t want to interact with the fans anymore and I am not sure I blame him since so many of them are so aggressive and demanding towards him.

ETA: I may be revising my previously favorable opinion of that gal, “iNaughtiest” – I see she turned up again in Chicago at the VIP/M&G so she appears to be developing the same oh-so-familiar stalkerish qualities… Pity…I had thought she was comparatively normal…

      • “…on the tubies, David looked completely uncomfortable and awkward at the mike IMO without his guitar…” -Nist

When I was at the York, PA show last month it was hard to miss the swooning semi-circle of Tards at his feet, gazing lasciviously nad-ward, their cameras pointed directly at Dave’s nether regions every chance they got, zoom on 10x, hoping to be the lucky one who snapped the bulge of their dreams, the money shot, as it were. It must have been incredibly uncomfortable for him. No wonder he kept the guitar in place as much as possible.

“You should at least feint that you’re making crowd eye contact.” -FDC

Again at York, and if you look at the photos posted you will see it, I noticed that Dave kept his line of vision for the most part well above the adoring Tards dye-jobs and cleavage displays, instead looking out into the crowd, what he could see of them, anyway. Very few Tards got the coveted “He’s looking right into my lens and straight down my shirt” shot that they may have snapped in the previous tour.

Poor guy…perhaps he’s realized the Monster that is Tard that, yes, he had a hand in creating whether consciously or not, has become something he can’t bear to look at for fear he will be dragged off the stage and into their drooling jaws, knees licked and tummeh prodded, biceps squeezed and head stroked, until he is just a shell of what he once was.

Look into the light, Mr Cook. And never, ever look down.

      • nonna-muss Says:

Thanks for the thumbs up, Sans!

Karen D., I get what you’re saying. I had a friend attend a show recently and she stated that he did look past the front. She also stated that the first couple of rows stood like statues with their cameras at the ready, to get the money shot of his Magic Rainbow or if someone was lucky enough, maybe he stuck his tongue out. She said no one was moving or head bopping or dancing, just taking videos and pictures. If he’s seeing that night after night only a short time after having them all feel him up at VIP and knowing he has to do it again after the show….yeah, I can see why he may appear disengaged sometimes.

I also think he’s been wearing the same shirt every night for the same reason. LISTEN TO THE FUCKING MUSIC PEOPLE!!! It’s not about what pants or shirt he wears, it’s not about getting the hottest pictures, it’s about the fucking music and to forget about life for awhile and just have a fucking good time. That’s it. That is what it’s supposed to be about. Anyway, that’s what I think the whole point of ol’ denim is.

PS–I hope he keeps wearing the same shirt just to irk them too.

      • Nist Says:

Interesting food for thought, Karen. Never thought about guitar-as-protection-from-sick-tards, lol. It’s a shame that whole bulge thing keeps going on and on. Supposedly David had a mark/cut on his neck at some concert the other day, and a bunch of tards led by the former anodynejunkie and ninasfeet, were analyzing photos, speculating it was a “hickey”. Never stops with them.

      • songkat7 Says:

Seriously, they did? It was a zit, nothing more. Saw it big as day.

We all get them, but I guess David can’t get a zit without the tards salivating that it’s something else…

  12. Dani Says:

For some reason, I thought this video was her. I may be delusional but she does mention the HOB show from that year so she must be from the Chicago area. Once the photos are up maybe she’ll be in them?

      • Loved the placement of the tard head next to the logo on the tshirt–Kum & go?

Looks like ol’ Dave was thinking naughty.

Ok that was kinda gross. I’m laughing to myself anyway.

Maybe he’ll wear one that says Lick My Knee & Go for iluvdceyes.

    • A very strange mother-son love-hate vignette, inspired by their sorry yard sale junk that no one wants and a mother’s deluded infatuation with a musician who doesn’t know she exists.

My advice is to change your name to Dave, kid, and offer your knees to be licked. That may be the only way to keep your Mom from embarrassing you any more than she already has.

      • WilcoisAwesome Says:

Most rock music isn’t doing spectacularly nowadays, with a few exceptions (Foo Fighters, Bon Iver…). It does even worse when you’re not really rock, but not really pop and you’re stuck in the middle(Cook, Avril). The music scene is changing and we’re all at fault. We bitch and complain about the same artists being played on radio, but people are buying the albums so it’s everyone’s fault.
Also, nowadays, thanks so social media and iTunes and so forth, you simply cannot judge the success of an artist purely based on Billboard charts and Soundscan results. Labels now factor in various marketing outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Lastfm, etc views and revenue as part of the “success” rate. In fact, a lot of labels, while yes, they want to make money, aren’t looking at the album selling payoff harshly anymore, because most bands and artists have 360 deals, which means that the label gets a % of everything you do – album, tour, merch – and that’s where they make their money – even if that artist is Gavin DeGraw or David Cook and not selling out auditoriums. They’re still making more money on a medium-sized venue tour, merch, VIP packages…etc, than pumping more money than they have to into an album. SO, with that regard (while I know it doesn’t qualm the “David Cook’s career is over” spewers), Cook’s career ain’t half bad. PLUS, he writes for other artists, and maybe it’s peas to us, he still gets royalties every time someone plays his song that he sings or has written.

  13. just dont get it Says:

not to change this hysterical conversation but i heard that Starland is offering “buy one get one free” for David’s show. Guess even the Northeast tards are losing interest!

    • nonna-muss Says:

Starland is offering that for all of their shows. It’s a Christmas promotion. On Black Friday they actually offered it to all shows but his and one other.

      • just dont get it Says:

oh, ok, so no shows are selling all that well then!

      • nonna-muss Says:

I looked at my list of BOGO artists and he’s not one. Can you imagine the tard meltdown if they bought tickets at full price and then this was offered??? It’d be funny. 😀

  14. just dont get it Says:

Just got an email from ticketmaster:

Use the password ‘COOK ‘for your at half-priced tickets!

Hurry — this offer is only available until Friday, December 2 at midnight!

    • nonna-muss Says:

Oh! I don’t get ticketmaster emails, just Starland….they have a lot of good shows there. Now I wonder what the tards will say because they paid full price. “It’s not fair!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!”.

      • just dont get it Says:

i wonder why they mention “Permanent” in there? The chances of hearing that one are pretty slim I would think!

      • nonna-muss Says:

I heard someone asked him to do that at a sound check and he said no because it would put his head in a bad place or something to that affect. Why would someone even ask him that?

      • Fluffy Says:

I don’t know why someone who would call themselves a fan would ask him to play “Permanent.” I could see someone who didn’t know better but… c’mon now. Would be surprised to ever hear that song again.

      • burt Says:

Because they just love to bring up memories of his brother – they do it all the time. They don’t seem to understand the pain it would cause. Yet another example of them acting in a way that conflicts with how much they claim to care about him.

  15. Nist Says:

DCO check: On the numbers thread, the poster maybeplum is basically challenging the numbers nerds for not being more positive about the chances for “Fade Into Me” to become a big radio hit. (Of course if it becomes a big hit, it will surely inspire a massive turnaround for the entire CD, becoming the smash everyone wants. Right?)

She’s trying to be analytical about it, and failing miserably. Maybeplum is the poster who started the “street team” (!) thread, which is “dedicated to discussion of the positive promotion of David Cook and his music.” As opposed to the negative promotion of it? 🙂

As one of the numbers nerds pointed out a few days ago, everyone loved their stats when David was selling platinum. Now that he’s not, people are saying they don’t want to hear the statistical probabilities about the chances the singles/CD have/has for success.

Put it this way – Wehoscott is one of the voices of reason on that thread at the moment. That’s how bad maybeplum has gotten. 😉

  16. Amusedbyfandom Says:

Thanks for the stats on Avril and Gavin DeGraw. Certainly puts things in perspective. The music industry isn’t what it used to be even 5 years ago much less further back.

As far as David’s performance/vocals etc. Having seen him live recently, I thought he was engaging and clearly happy to be on stage. JMO, YMMV and all that jazz. Nice to have a discussion where everyone can voice an opinion without being called a tard or a negative nellie 😉

    • nonna-muss Says:

Well, I was just about to call you all big meanie poo poo heads. I think we’ve all made good points, the main one being his career is not over. The tards see black and white, huge numbers or bust. I’m glad we can all see the various shades of gray. Even in my criticism of David, I’m still a fan and will remain one and it seems the same go for most of us.

If any tards are lurking tonight they must have steam coming out of their ears. They always accuse us of being ‘haters’ and think we hate David—again their blindness overrides any logic since they don’t see it’s THEM we don’t like. Tonight we’ve added fuel to that fire! Now they can say “SEEEEEEEEE????? They hate him!!11!!eleventy!!!!!!” Psssst–lurking tards…..we don’t hate him. We like him.

      • sansdelusions Says:

WORD to your post ^^^^^^^ Nonna!!

This is why I come HERE – at least one can express opinions freely without fearing the closed and often hostile environs of DCO (mainly DWOP/PB threads) – where even the SLIGHTEST critique of “our hero” causes the madding crowd to start hurling the tomatos and brandishing pitchforks! It’s nuts in there! Unless you are prepared to worship at the foot of the mile high pedestal they have him perched precariously on – you are NOT welcome. Oh and Gawd help you if you say one TINY negative word about TLM – the most masterful, masterly, masterpiece of an album EVER created in the history of music EVER!!! Cuz it just is and well it just IS cuz DCO tards say so!!! Yeah! The “Tribe” decrees! Gah, there is so much tongue bathing going on in there it’s like one big puddle of drool.

And just for the record (to you tards who are reading and about to go ballistic again) – I LOVE David. No, not in the Biblical sense, sorry, no not like YOU tards, but I think he has a great voice and a great future if he can figure out what kind of artist he really is and gets the right management to help him get where he wants to go (crossing my fingers)!!

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Hmmm…..guess I haven’t read on dwop in awhile. That thread used to be the source of daily critiques of everything those posters thought was wrong with David: hair (head and facial), clothes, performing with the guitar, management and yes even TLM with his “biggest” fans like Scott leading the charge all in the name of “keeping it real” with David. As Scott infamously said once ” the honeymoon is over and David needs us to critique him so that he’ll improve”, lol.

While there are a couple songs on TLM I always skip, I’m looking forward to whatever is in the future for David. Crossing fingers with you sansdelusions

      • Nist Says:

I was a latecomer to DWOP (I never bothered with DCO or Word Nerds and stuck to original flavor David Cook on TWOP). But I started checking it out last year as the TWOP thread died out. Current day DWOP is exactly as sansdelusions describes it, which is probably why the posting has died down tremendously, even in the year I’ve been checking it out. I can’t even imagine what the traffic was like at its peak or that people were actually critical on there.

The PB (proverbial box) is sometimes more open/thoughtful for a while, but someone will come in and tell people they are being too critical, so many end up backtracking.

I always wonder what happened to the DC=42 board. ( That was the refuge of a bunch of ladies (I think they were all ladies lol) who repeatedly got banned from TWOP for attacking anyone who criticized David and especially for going on and on about his physical assets and what he “DID” to them. I checked their new board out a few times and it seemed like some very intelligent, fair conversation going on (they created a separate section for the “squeeing” so it could be avoided, and they all seemed to have grown up a bit, because they were annoying as hell on TWOP). But all the posters have drifted away. I always wondered if there was some story behind that. If you go to that board anytime that are always still 5-10 people looking at the board at that moment, even if it probably gets less than 25 posts a month. I can’t figure that out.

And for the record, I think David is extremely talented with a truly rare voice. He also seems like a good guy. I do hope he can find some way to harness and expose that talent properly. (I listen to his version of “Rolling In the Deep” and hope someday he can have a song like that to call his own.)

    • WilcoisAwesome Says:

When I saw him in Chicago, he was really, really good. He was in great vocal form that night (it was my first DC show) and despite the assmonkies that threw shit onstage (which I know pissed him off to no end when they didn’t stop after he originally told them to), he seemed to have a great time. They were chugging champagne onstage, and as a band, they are just super tight. I would see him again. Upon first few listens of the album, I wasn’t super impressed, even though I liked the songs, but listening to them live is a whole different experience. (I’m a huge proponent of not writing someone off until you have seen them live and can then judge effectively if they’re “good” or not).

      • songkat7 Says:

I have only seen two shows this time around, but feel there is a more professional vibe to this tour if that’s possible. It’s hard to explain. But I didn’t see any detachment in his live performance, other than the usual ignoring of the front row entitled tards.

Interesting perspectives on this thread. 🙂

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Agree with the more professional polished vibe on this tour. I think with the first tour, David was so wide-eyed and maybe a little naive and everything was on such a different scale for him. It’s now a job, one he enjoys immensely but still a job. There’s definitely a mature performer developing.

That professionalism also extends to the tour manager and the crew. The Declaration tour was full of rumors of the front row crew buddying up to the roadies and the tour manager Art ,who was replaced on the later part of the tour with someone who didn’t interact like he was a bff with fans.

The VIPs have almost completely cut out hanging by the bus and maybe giving him a little balance between being on stage and his personal life and giving the tards less chance to worm their way into the back stage people.

      • songkat7 Says:

Exactly! It’s great seeing a more professional crew and Jason being gone, who seemed to do whatever the front row crew wanted, whether he liked it or not. I sometimes wonder what they had on him…

  17. squeaky c Says:

In the interest of full disclosure, I love David. Well, I love his music and persona. Always have…something about him makes me all squealy. I digress.
My amazing husband sent me to the Columbus VIP and I did the after m and g with my friends. The VIP was kind of a blur, and we were buying merch, so whatever. He and Gavin were very nice and we all preferred the informal atmosphere vs the VIP. I won a radio contest to meet him in Ft Wayne. At one point during the set, he teased us about our dancing, so I told him “YOU laughed at US? We saw you on Idol.” And we laughed, I hugged him and wished him well. Everyone asked if he remembered me between shows, I said “I hope I didn’t stand out in the thousand people he’s met this tour!”
I didn’t notice any disconnect, but we weren’t trying to molest him
For the record, yes Vicki sounded super excited, but appropriate. I hate to see her getting slammed when she wasn’t OTT at all.
As for me? I’m off in search of Amy Lee or Kari Byron meet and greets to gift to the best husband ever.

    • freedavidcook Says:

You know, if you’d only seen her in action once or maybe even twice at a concert you wouldn’t thing Vicky is over the top. But once you see the constant tweeting to David Cook and the things said plus all the bizarre scrap books and gifts she’s made for him along with other things she’s said and done you’d see that the trend is not good at all. She’s another one of the front row wack jobs.

    • nonna-muss Says:

Squeaky, if you are who I think you are, congrats on winning the tickets to Ft. Wayne! I read a write up of a/the winner and it was quite moving. I’m glad you had a good experience.

      • squeaky c Says:

I wasn’t the big winner, which was fine by me. I was super thrilled for her and her kids. Btw, everyone in the front moved and made way for the kids to be directly in front, which was awesome to see:) I just didn’t have to wait in line to see him and got to be up front, well, behind the kids:)

      • nonna-muss Says:

That’s nice about the kids. Her story was quite touching. I’m glad you had fun!

    • AmyB Says:

I have to agree with what people are saying about Vicki. At shows her actions might seem appropriate. It’s not what she does at a show. Yes I would expect everyone there to be excited, if not why would you attend then. It is the way she’s constantly tweeting him and the stuff that she is always sending him. This is the OTT behavorer that makes her seem like a tard.

      • nonna-muss Says:

Exactly. It wasn’t her actions at the show itself, it’s the tweeting and OTT online behavior. If David and Andrew recognized her twitter name, it’s got to be too much.

  18. AmyB Says:

Looking forward to reading ILuvDCyes’s post about seeing David tonight. It should be interesting if not very funny.

    • nonna-muss Says:

It’s going to be great. Bleed_into_one is also doing VIP tonight. I hope he realizes she’s the one that was trash talking him about Dublin.

      • JennPaz Says:

Yeah, but i highly doubt he’ll say anything to her about it, although it would be awesome if he did! Lol

she cant even afford to go to VIP and yet …. :/
and these people should not be spotting her cash. unbelievable.

      • MK Says:

I hate to tell that cookienerd chick, but she is probably never going to see her money again. Might as well consider it a gift to Becky. Becky is a lying, selfish, backstabbing, two-faced bitch.

I don’t feel too sorry for cookienerd though, she’s one of the ones who hates Andrew & talks shit about him.

    • JennPaz Says:

Yes, everybody please say a prayer for David and his right leg tonight. May they both come out of tonight’s M&G unscathed. Not to mention I think that Becky chick will also be there this evening.

      • nonna-muss Says:

Becky hates Andrew. Hates him. She’s made it no secret and said she won’t be nice to him or even pretend to be. Should be interesting.

David’s poor knees!!! Luckily it’s quite cold in the Albany area so he won’t be wearing shorts.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Announcement made at today’s VIP….95 people doing VIP….NO PROPS for pictures. Hahahaha. It’s about time. Tards trying to out do each other was getting ridiculous and I’m sure the guys were getting sick of it.

      • nonna-muss Says:

That’s fantastic! There were people at some VIP’s that got rushed through because the Prop Tards used so much of the time.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Nonna, I doubt Becky would say anything directly to Andrew. She’s a mouthy bitch when she’s getting egged on by her twitter buddies but in real life I’m sure she’s just a miserable coward. But I would love for him to pull her aside and rip her a new one. 🙂

      • JennPaz Says:

I so hope Andrew knows which one is Becky lol. And glad to hear about no props for pictures. Looked like it got out of hand at the Chicago M&G. Seemed like the majority of people had props.

      • MK Says:

Andrew followed Becky on twitter, for like 5 minutes, awhile ago. He knows who she is. I bet he has her, and those like her, on some kind of private list so he & David know who to watch for at the shows.

      • This from DCO thread for the Clifton Park, NY show tonight.

We are here! It has been a long long time, BG was last for me! Never did VIP before,a bit nervous…Cannot WAIT to hear the VOICE of David and the sound of the band!

Really? She’s never done a VIP? Ohhh to be a tard on the wall tonight.

      • freedavidcook Says:

That’s ironic considering she was one of the tards lurking around the shops of Charlottesville the day I ran into him. He snuck out shopping right out past the tards. Some, like her, were less than twenty feet away and never saw him.. LOL

Would love to be a fly on the M&G wall tonight.

      • nonna-muss Says:

IluveDCYes has met him. I saw her meet him. My friend and I were shopping and we saw a cute little park. As we were sitting there in the shade and just chatting on a bench, David walked up the street. He went into a store and when he came out, there she was. She approached him and he chatted with her for a few minutes. We were across the street so at the time we couldn’t tell exactly who it was. We found out when we saw her recap at DCO. We sat on the bench and watched the whole thing. Could we have easily crossed the street and entered the store he went into? Yup. Could we too have waited on the sidewalk for him to come out? Yup. Silly us, we just sat in the park.

  19. That makes me want to yell at iloveDCYES

  20. How could anyone ever think that this was a good idea? No wonder the No Props decision was made.

    • nonna-muss Says:

I saw that the other night. Another case of tard trying to outdo tard. I truly do not understand the prop phenomenon. Why? Why? Why? I hope they no prop rule is for the remainder of the tour.

Didn’t ILuvDCYes have something planned for tonight? She’s been talking about the ‘surprise’ for two weeks. If it was a prop she’s shit outta luck.

      • MK Says:

That’s one of the front row crew, Corinne or something. She’s friends with ninasfeet. Devin looks like he’s wants to be flipping off the camera and David looks like “what the fuck is this shit???”

I am so glad the no props rule was made. They make David look like a joke. How is he supposed to be taken as a serious rockstar when he’s being forced to wear shit like that? David is not your pet. If you wanna dress something up, get a dog.

I wonder how many tards are going to ignore the “no props” rule, thus pissing David off.

      • Nist Says:

Yeah that’s Corinne. She’s been to a bunch of shows on this tour, but I think this may have been her first VIP. Guess she wanted to make it memorable…

Funnily enough, Kristen/Jules/Tracy (one of them lol) recently advised someone out shopping for props NOT to bring props to VIP. Whoever tweeted it said she could tell on the faces of the guys that they were getting tired of it. (I think K/J/T are more prone to goofy poses without props at M&Gs.)

So they were ahead of the curve on that one. Then again, since they’ve been to so many M&Gs, they’ve had plenty of time to observe their subjects. 🙂

      • WilcoisAwesome Says:

It’s a shame they enacted the no prop rule so late in the game, since there were a lot of people – Chicago particularly included – who had never met him, who paid for VIP and got rushed through because some broad just HAAADDD to knit him an ugly Christmas sweater or some other crazy shit, thereby reducing the amount of time he had for people towards the back of the line. I’ve said it before, but hopefully next time he goes on tour and if he does VIPs again, they know what kind of shit to expect and can outlaw these kinds of things, giving everyone an equal value of an experience. I’m sorry, but if I’m paying $75 to meet you and see you SC, I want the same amount of time that the person in front of me is getting. If you do props and spend that time with one set of people, you should do it with the rest, too.

      • Karen D Says:

Heard through the grapevine that he wasn’t happy about having to wear the sweater. Wish he had the balls to tell her no on the spot. Might have pushed her closer to reality.

    • Rubber Ducky Says:

That’s some ugly ass shit they’re being guilted into wearing, right there.

      • Notallfansaretards Says:

I was at show with the one with the sweater vests..she is a rude, obnoxious tard who is one of the entitled ones…and don’t get me started on Kristen and Julxo who think they are David’s bff’s now

        Kristen8108 Kristen
Dave to our group during post show M&G: “I love you guys!” ❤ He was in such a good mood tonight.

      • songkat7 Says:

That’s his answer to anyone who screams out “I love you!” to him. They’re not special, except in their own minds.

And yeah, I met the sweater one after an Idol show a few years ago (not Season 7). She complained that one of the DC shows “sucked”, one that I had a great time at. Made me think that if someone goes to so many shows that they can bitch about the quality, they’re even more nuts to continue blowing $$ on more shows.

But then again, we know it’s not the music they’re there for.

      • Rubber Ducky Says:

So she has shitty taste in clothing to match her shitty taste in music?

    • Karen D Says:

Weird for Tracy to tell people not to bring props since she brought props for her Chicago M&G…just didn’t want to be out tarded?

  21. Beauxcefus Says:

What kinda fuckery is this? I. Can’t. Even. This was humiliating for them to do to him. And for me and others like me just viewing as a Cook fans – albeit we’re ones that have respect for him.

    • Rubber Ducky Says:

Why that’s just ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!111 Totally is, why else would they be wearing plushies and acting out a scene from a game? Axl Rose wishes he was so rock n roll.

  22. Amusedbyfandom Says:

Becky “borrowed” money to attend the Clifton Park VIP? Seriously!?! I can see borrowing money to pay your rent, utilities or put gas in the car but to pay to see someone you’ve already paid to see at least twice already…..boggles the mind. Talk about having your priorities all fucked up.

Don’t think David and the band would have missed her. Anybody hear of any encounter between Becky and Andrew? Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he handed her the VIP lanyard. 😀

    • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Oops, meant to post that up thread near NIcole and MK, oh well.

    • Black Angel Says:

I think celeb obsession is an addiction similar to gambling. Spending all your money and even borrowing money to go to shows and for what? I guess the big payday for them is they think they are going to land him? It’s the same irrational thinking that gamblers have. Spending all your money for a dream that’s never going to happen. Plus, lots of enablers in this fanbase that say, “there’s nothing wrong with your destructive behavior. Go ahead and spend all your money on bullshit.” *smh*

  23. Beauxcefus Says:

Haven’t we been pretty much saying much the same :/ I’m sure the loon platform is preparing to swoop in, but I can’t find much to disagree with…

Cook deserves better than ‘Idol’ routine

    • JennPaz Says:

All of that sure sounded familiar… Where have I heard it before? Lol but I totally agree with the article… Too bad the tards will flip their lids over that review.

    • Black Angel Says:

Totally agree with that article. The crazy starts when they start attacking the writer.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Article’s been up since early this morning and no comments at all. Call me crazy, but that gives me hope for this fandom. 😉

    • The review was straight up and honest — soemthing that the tards will spit and hiss over for days I am sure. But he is right. When Dave lets it rip (always liked his “Hot for Teacher” from the last tour) there’s a whole new show up there.

I admit that I do like the new album– wait! wait! Before you all jump on me..

I actually LIKE the new album when I can listen to it in it’s entirety in the privavcy of my favourite chair, with headphones or, like yesterday, at the dentist’s office so I didn’t have to hear what was going on in my mouth.

BUT — listening to it as as a set piece (as I believe it was originally intended to be) is far different from hearing the songs individually on stage. What I do like about them live is that at least they are charged up a bit more, no soaring violins, and echoechoecho refrains like the studio recording. He does manage to “dirty up” a few of them, making them more enjoyable.

Regurgitating studio performances is for the karaoke tards who want to sing along with The Voice like they do in the shower. Being able to at least make it palatable in a rock show is a totally different bag of hammers. This Loud Morning on stage is NOT the same This Loud Morning that I hear on my ipod walking home from work.

And, in my opinion, therein lies the true talent that Dave has. I’d like to see him release a live album one day. Boys just blowing the place up. Speakers ramped so loud that your ears a ringing and you feel the wall of sound bouncing of your face.

Maybe then the fans that he hopes to one day attract will finally see past the sequined tards and their creepy props and get to hear the real rock and roll musician that is David Cook.

      I rambled. I aplogise.

  24. JennPaz Says:

Apparently, iluvdcyes is already bugging Andrew on twitter about posting last night’s VIP pics. He responded, telling her to “cool her jets.” Lol

  25. Nist Says:

roxybella_manda went to last night’s concert and is going tonight and maybe NYC? She tweeted to David: @thedavidcook I hope that we can talk more at the meet and greet tomorrow.

Uh, it’s a meet and greet, not a meet and talk. 🙂 You’ve been to a couple, you should know that.

And one of David’s crew guys tweeted her thanking her for knowing his name last night -she retweeted it. That guy is in for a rude awakening-she will *never* leave him alone now…

I also saw a twitter conversation this morning seriously comparing David to someone named George Bailey. I didn’t know who that was so I wiki’ed it. It’s the main character in that movie “A Wonderful Life”!!! Um, OK….(that pedestal keeps getting higher and higher)

    • JennPaz Says:

Why on earth would they compare David to George Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life?! He tried to kill himself and then saw what life would’ve been like if he hadn’t been born. Nope, not seeing the comparisons.

“Every time David sings, a Tard creams her panties.”

      • Nist Says:

If I’m understanding it correctly, basically it was a comparison to the positive effect David has had on people’s lives, like George Bailey came to realize he had made a positive effect on people???? But who knows….

      • Dammit– I want that on a t-shirt!!!

Get that guy Andrew in merch STAT!!!

  26. Jen Says:

So I was at the show and VIP last night. You know, I never really believed everyone in here talking about how he seems different, detached, whatever. But yeah, I get it now. He barely talked at all during the Soundcheck. It was just three songs and then Andrew will take care of you now. He did crack up at a joke Andrew cracked. And actually, we were towards the front of the M&G line and from what I saw any smiling or laughing was at Andrew because he was cracking jokes and singing while taking pictures. (The tour manager, Jody, took the first few and then Andrew took over.) David was just…subdued I guess. I’ve seen some talk on twitter saying that and yeah, I agree. It made the whole thing feel more awkward to me. I don’t blame him by any means, I feel more sad for him, and if I weren’t so shy maybe I would’ve said more than two words and it would’ve taken more than 10 seconds, but yeah I’m a little disappointed.

Let’s see, what else? Amanda, Becky, and Karen (iluvdcyes) did their pictures before us so maybe that’s why he was not in the best mood. Nothing particularly crazy though. Karen gave him something that he was unwrapping and then Andrew cut it short like he does by counting down to the picture. Becky said something quick to all of them instead of greeting them individually and then took a pic. Amanda went straight in for a hug on each of the guys which I thought was incredibly presumptuous. And David stepped away and said something to Andrew between Amanda and Becky but I don’t remember who went first. It was funny too – Amanda and a couple other people joined the VIP line outside after Andrew had already did his spiel twice so he came over to tell them and when he was done and starting to walk away Amanda calls out “Andrew, you don’t recognize (or remember, I don’t recall) me?” He turns back around, pauses, says “Amanda. Hey” She raised her hand for a high five, he gave her one and then immediately turned back around and walked away. (We got there at 4:00 even though it said 4:30 and were at the back of the line. Only in Cook fandom)

Becky was front row directly in front of him against the barrier. Kristen and Jules were right behind her. Agreed that he doesn’t look at the front row much. And he sings a lot with his eyes closed completely. I don’t know. I’m sad for him. Andrew, on the other hand, is amazing. You guys know how I feel about Andrew but even notwithstanding my ridiculous crush lol. Charming, personable, always cracking a joke, and I have to wonder if that’s why he’s here now, to help David get through it and to be his voice, especially in the M&G’s, which makes me understand the Andrew hate even less, if that’s possible. If you want him to be happy and Andrew makes him happy then…the fuck?

Lol this got long. blah blah blah tl;dr

    • Honest and very insightful, Jen. Made me sad just to read it. What have those tards done to him? Sucked some of the life out of him, I think.

Hopely the next part of the tour will be a little more organised. I never thought this whole M&G thing was such a great idea, personally. Sure, people like to meet him but paying for that oppotunity more than once just strikes me as a little weird.

They need to limit the number that can go to them and certainly limit the number of times you can do it–ONCE a tour comes to mind. If they have to send info to the ones who are going to a M&Gm it’s hardly rocket science to keep track of their frequency.

      • Jen Says:

Definitely agree. Lots of artists do paid M&G’s, but there should be a limit to how many you can do. There were 95 people at ours – that’s a lot of people to have to meet before a show, and I wonder how many had already done some. I recognized a lot of faces and some names as Andrew was reading them off. I kind of understand the desire to do it twice because I felt like I messed up mine and people might want another chance (though for me, with my personality, it’d be the same every time. I’m just shy lol). But we figured we’d rather be forgotten in the next 30 seconds than remembered for being infamous. I think I saw some tweets that the after show M&G was better but I don’t know.

      • Rubber Ducky Says:

95 x $75 = he’s dreaming about the $7125, not the scary parade of horny old women who won’t stop groping him..

      • Nist Says:

If David doesn’t limit the VIPs next time around or limit the amount of times the same people can go, I wonder if he’ll go to the tiered type of VIP. Different pricing for different things. One of my friends went to one where you could choose from 1)soundcheck/Q&A/group photo with band (you and several other fans) 2)soundcheck/q&a/individual photo with band 3)soundcheck/individual photo/15-20 min backstage tour led by one band member. The last one was VERY pricey so she opted for #2, which was still a few hundred dollars.

But yes, 95 people x $75 right now is probably helping his bottom line somewhat, esp. in this economy. But if they are being rushed through, they might be less likely to recommend it to others.

      • burt Says:

Well, he would have had the option to limit the times a person could do M&G on the first leg but didn’t do it. He then could have done it for his solo shows but didn’t. There was whatever set Ed off, he’s been followed a lot on the promotional tour, he would have known they would go OTT and he knew what their behavior is like so I don’t know why he didn’t do it. I can only think of 1) money (fair enough if they are dumb enough to keep doing it) or 2) not wanting to cause fan problems – not necessarily that he cares about but that he might not have wanted the drama.

I have mixed feelings because in some ways, he has (dare I say it?) kind of brought on the situation himself (or at least the label or his management have). But it’s work for him – well paid work too – and for all I know, he smiles then leaves the room and doesn’t give any of it a second thought. In which case, why change it?

      • Jen Says:

I mean, with 100 people starting two hours before the doors open, there’s no way to spend more than a minute or two with each and still get it done on time so yeah, there definitely needs to be some kind of limit. I limited myself (because I hate these things in general) but for others who didn’t Andrew did but in a funny, charming way, not rude at all.

      • Black Angel Says:

Of course it’s money in his pocket. Let the tards line his pocket it they are dumb enough to do it. Whoring yourself has it’s advantages… $$$.

      • Karen D Says:

The number of people who can attend each meet and greet is limited. I think they just put the number too high. I believe it was 125 as that was the number that York had, and that was the highest. A few of them sold out, but not most of them. It might be more reasonable to limit it to 50 people or less.

    • Nist Says:

That was a great report. Not tl:dr at all. I’m sorry you didn’t have a better time at VIP, though. I think your Andrew crush is cute. 🙂

I heard today that Amanda (roxybella_manda) was upset about how her VIP went yesterday and that’s why she tweeted David that she wanted to talk more with him today. So demanding! She was probably furious that he didn’t give her special attention. She tweeted a while ago that she got 2 hugs today, so I suppose all is right with the world now lol.

      • nicole Says:

two hugs for $75?! what a bargain!!!

but then, it still clearly says that you are not friends. hugs between friends are frequent and free … well at least from where i come from.

and Amanda, Andrew recognizes you the way the FBI recognizes its Most Wanted.

      • Nist Says:

        🙂 lol so very true.

      • Jen Says:

Thanks! – but yeah, like I said, it was mostly my fault since I’m awkward lol.

Ugh, she got a hug last night. I think it was her that Monty gave the most lackluster hug to. I laughed and immediately told my friend.

    • nonna-muss Says:

Thanks for your recap Jen. Your speculation/observation that Andrew was brought in to help David, for lack of a better word, mentally and emotionally is very interesting. I think it’s easy for the paid (not that Andrew’s not paid) to be taken in by the tards being they really don’t understand. Andrew gets it. Andrew lives it. Andrew knows the shenanigans they try to pull and he won’t take the bullshit. It would be great for David if he could have Andrew around on the next leg of the tour too. Especially if he’s not only David’s backbone (David’s words) but his comic relief as well.

      • songkat7 Says:

I think we’re right on the money as to the reason (or one of the reasons) Andrew is on this tour.

And Amanda? Is one of those who has ripped Andrew via Tweets, only to change her tune when she thought it would benefit her. Yes, the brothers Cook know of her, but it’s not to her credit or in the way she dreams of or pretends.

      • burt Says:

Interesting reading Jen. Not to underestimate the affect of seeing the tards constantly but it’s possible there’s something else going on with him/his family/his life/his career. He always seemed professional in the past, regardless of what shit he’s taking from them, so it seems weird that he would let them affect interactions with the very fans he’s trying to attract and keep i.e. the ones he doesn’t recognize! Not trying to start rumors or anything, just saying!

I’ve only read a few of the recent posts (how do these totally invested fans find the time to keep track of everything he does?) but the comments about David’s on stage performance got me wondering if it’s that whole perfectionist/putting pressure on himself thing again? To me he seemed tense when he was promoting the single/album (not so much the radio shows but the more formal, dressed up, appearances). It’s like TLM came with a whole lot of added pressure (probably self imposed) and he can’t quite relax, let go and have as much fun.

Not to sound tardy but whatever the reasons, I hope he’s OK and gets through it. If it *is* because of the hardcore pack, I hope he can see past them so casual fans don’t pick up on it and harm his career. It’s bad enough that he’s avoiding Twitter because of them (I read that right, didn’t I?) – guy needs to find an app that ignores users – he’s missing a massive marketing opportunity there alone, not just to sell shit but to show his personality, promote charity work and stay in the mind of all those followers.

        It’s all very intriguing…

      • Jen Says:

I think it’s telling that it seems like at least part of this crew is different than last tour. What’s great about Andrew is that he does it all with charm and humor. But he’s firm too. I don’t think Andrew quit his job to do this instead but it was probably a stars align kind of thing.

        Yup on Amanda.

And I wouldn’t say he was unprofessional at all. I’m not upset at him or anything, he was just subdued, not talkative, probably tired. I saw some twitter talk about a childhood dog having died so could have been that too. It sounds like Jeri was saying something along the lines of he paid for this so he gets what he gets and he has to live with it based on replies to her and I definitely definitely don’t, and won’t ever, believe that. It’s not that hard to be respectful – people just choose not to be.

      • songkat7 Says:

I wish the message could be gotten to that crew member to avoid getting all buddy buddy with the fans; hopefully after the mess of the last tour, the crew this time around has been warned.

      • burt Says:

It’s OK, Jen – I didn’t mean that you thought he was unprofessional and I wasn’t saying he was. Everyone’s allowed an off day or two and it’s not like he was being an ass to people. If it were to carry on that would be something else entirely but really we can only judge if we know the reason e.g. if he’s letting the hardcore regular attendees affect the other fans experience, that’s not good but if he’s not himself because of a more serious or personal reason then it’s understandable. But we will probably never know and that’s fine.

      • AmyB Says:

David has said many times how much help Andrew is to him and how much he means to him. I think he is there to be David’s voice when he can’t say what he is thinking and feeling and to be a support for him. I also believe that some of those tweets of Andrews are really what David wants to say to some of these people, and feels he cannot. I just want to put my arms around David and say how sorry I am for all the crazyness that some of them are putting him through. He’s such a nice person and doesn’t deserve this crap.

      • burt Says:

You know, I worry for David if it takes his brother coming on tour to have a way to get his point across or get what he wants while he’s on the road. That’s what he pays people for, he shouldn’t have to rely on family. Not that I’m saying Andrew isn’t there for support and all that stuff but I don’t totally buy that he’s David’s mouthpiece and saying the stuff David can’t. Anyone on his team would do that and why would the worst fans listen to Andrew when they hate him?

What I don’t get is why people think he needs emotional support anyway? He’s “only” on tour. It’s what he does, it’s what he loves to do (or so he claims) and it’s a relatively short tour (one where he’s had time off, seen family, been close to both homes) – why would he need his brother to step in and save him from it all? Not that Andrew seems to be saving him from it if people are commenting that David seems down. I have nothing against Andrew, he seems nice, funny and sensible but I wonder if it’s more David helping Andrew out by giving him a job and having the added benefit of having his brother around who he is obviously very close to and gets comic relief from. Nothing wrong with that, just not sure there are the motives people are reading into it.

    • Fluffy Says:

Jen, thanks for your little recap, and I feel your pain because when I had my M&G mine was about 2 seconds, too, and it was pretty much because I was too shy to say anything. And I left feeling disappointed, too, though I’m a sane fan and know it had nothing to do with him but with there being tons of people to get through the line and my own personality 🙂 Andrew was absolutely witty and charming, I cannot understand the hate at all.

I’m sure everything wears on the guy, between record sales and all the other stuff that comes with his job (he’s said before he loves being on stage, but other than that…) – and if he is an introvert (I don’t know if he ever said he is, but sure seems like it to me) then the whole M&G/soundcheck thing would be exhausting even if you didn’t add in the badly-behaved fans and the people who show up 40 zillion times and the people who treat him like he’s their pet. The soundcheck I went to, he just didn’t seem to know what the heck to say or do, though I did enjoy the music part of it.

    • AmyB Says:

This made me so sad to read. Yes I think this whole tour and M&G thing has taken the spark out of him. And there is a lot more behind it then just the tard behavor at the shows.

      • Jen Says:

I mean, it’s definitely just my perspective so who knows. But my friend and I did a post-mortem in the car right after the M&G and the first thing we said was wow, he hates his life. lol

  27. Nist Says:

Well, it seems at VIP yesterday David was given a (very pretty IMO) bracelet that a fan made, and wore it last night (there’s some photos floating around on twitter). So to all of us who were wondering why in the world people continue to give him gifts – and why he continues to accept them/use them – maybe the answer is: he likes gifts?

(Alternate theory: This fan apparently had never met him, so maybe he’s more open to gifts from people who aren’t in his face all the time? But I know of someone who’s met him a few times and he wore her gift – so who knows.)

  28. burt Says:

I’ve just read back. A couple of questions…

    1) Are David’s right leg and kneecaps OK after the “encounter” with you know who? That had to be awkward. I mean, her eyes had to be drifting downwards for a peek. I suppose he might have enjoyed the change from someone eying up the rainbow though.

    2) What was all the crap about him not taking care of his dog? I missed it mostly but picked up on Twitter something about him not being home much (which is irrelevant if he arranges someone else to do it) – was that it or were they accusing him of more?

    Just curious!

    • Nist Says:

      The dog issue was:
      a. A fan claimed in a blog that David told her at a M&G that he got two new dogs for a total of three dogs. Tards were wondering how David could have gotten new dogs without them knowing about it first. 🙂
      b. Becky/bleed_into_one was very upset about this situation, tweeting David didn’t take care of his one dog, how could he take care of three?
      c. FDC wrote about it in a blog here. David might have read it. 🙂
      d. David says at a later soundcheck that his dog was with family and that he read that people said he didn’t take care of his dog and those people can “kiss it.” (If there are indeed dog(s) instead of a dog then David is keeping it to himself.)

      The end. 😉

      • burt Says:

So she thinks he neglects his dog because he’s on tour? Harsh. Way to accusing someone of neglect when they quite clearly thinks the world of the dog. Very classy. I obviously expect nothing more. I don’t track his dog’s life but I always assumed it was home with Andrew before he joined the tour, so if an animal is in it’s own home with someone who actually lives there it’s not a bad deal.

I had no idea animal owners were never allowed to leave them in someone’s care. I mean, people do it all the time – what horrible people. The animals should be taken away and put in shelters. Then David could tweet about them, maybe even rescue a couple, and we could all “ahhhhh” together at how caring he is.

Good for him being clear that he read what was said! If someone did that to me, I would have been making more fuss than he did – man has the patience of a saint.

      • nonna-muss Says:

I almost think some of them are jealous of his dog! I remember a picture I saw of him at a show where Andrew brought Dublin onstage. Someone snapped a picture of David looking at Dublin and if anyone ever doubted the depth of his love for that dog it would be gone by looking at that picture. The tards only wish he’d look into their eyes the way he was looking at that cute little pup.

Also, I don’t know if you know Burt, David recently saved a boxer from being put down. He was in a town, at a show, and the local shelter tweeted that it was the boxer’s last day. David retweeted it and someone that follows his timeline (and I believe was local to the shelter) adopted it. Yeah, he’s a terrible, terrible person.

      • Fluffy Says:

When you are so overinvested in someone that you even have time to worry about his dog, you should go hide in a cave until you rehab yourself.

Maybe the dog criticism was a passive aggressive way to try to get him to confess that he has a girlfriend.

And nonna-muss, yes, that little retweet was fantastic and Cookie the dog (the shelter told the adopter about the RT, they loved that he gave that little bit of attention to their little rural shelter) now has a fantastic new home with five kids and two other dogs 🙂

      • Fluffy Says:

Went digging, this was the tweet from the shelter where the Boxer mix girl was:

        NCAnimalShelter Rutherford Shelter
@thedavidcook I cannot thank you enough for RT my post and saving that #boxer’s life. You made the difference. #youhaveanotherfan

      • Fluffy Says:

Let me add to that whole dog thing that the teaching point from that? One little thing can make a big difference. Took him about 2 seconds to RT that tweet and it did a lot of good. There’s my message today, lol. Take a second and do that little thing…

      • burt Says:

Ah, I think Nonna is right on about the jealousy towards the dog. What a stupid thing that is – it says so much.

I agree Fluffy, it’s so weird to think they are so over-invested that they not only think about his dog(s) but take time to worry and comment about it too. Just… why?

Thanks for the details, I saw his RT about the dog but didn’t know the story after that. Good to hear he helped save it – so sad so many animals are put down. And yes, one RT helped so much – makes you wonder what else he could achieve on Twitter. *bites tongue*

It seems we’re not the only ones sick of the crazies –

(Though, the “poor girl” she mentioned, if it’s who I think it was, was a bitch who thought saying she was young [she was 20] was a fine excuse for pushing past people. She didn’t almost get kicked out and eventually stepped back to stand with her boyfriend about two people back.)

Something else that pisses me off – I saw tweets today explaining how to get after show M&G passes when you’ve also done VIP already. They stake their claim in the front, have someone hold their place, and then go to the merch and get as many wristbands as they need, just assuring that the wristbands are sold out by the time any more casual fans get in and realize it’s an option. From replies to mysticpurz it seems that was the case at the show last night. Also Kristen and Jules weren’t even at the VIP on Saturday which means Becky at al probably saved spots for them and let them push their way to the front, thus getting in front of my friend and I who were at the VIP and got to go in early as a result. And actually, I could have sworn they were already there when we got our position so it makes me wonder if they just used an old lanyard since they’re the same for every show.

    • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Lord, I hope the talk of going overseas in early 2012 that he’s hinted at comes true. These bitches surely don’t have the resources to follow him to European or Asian countries, do they? Doubt Becky can borrow money from anyone for an overseas trip, lol. None of the usual suspects followed him to that Vietnam gig that I can recall.

      • songkat7 Says:

Don’t count on it – I’ve heard (though I don’t know who) that some are already planning on heading to Europe when he goes.

      • AmyB Says:

Oh you can bet some of them will be heading to Europe when he goes. I can see it now.

      • burt Says:

Of course they’ll find a way to travel. They’ll want to be there for his first international shows and show their support. I really hope they don’t but…

I saw tweets from someone a couple of days ago, can’t remember who but it was while they were all going a bit mad with the “that’s it, the tour is over, Vegas is his last show before he releases his new album next year, we’ve got a massive wait with no Dave” rumors and they were saying things like (paraphrasing) “oh he better not make me go to Vegas” “I can’t afford to go but if that’s the last show, I want to be there. He’s making me go.” etc. And that’s within the US.

With that mentality, they will travel anywhere but it will be interesting to see how many do travel. That will test boundaries for sure and certainly show who the alpha-tards are. Scary thoughts.

      • freedavidcook Says:

If that’s the case I hope he plays some places where English is not commonly spoken… like parts of Eastern Europe.. just to see the tards struggle and stumble along in their endless quest for Cook..hysterical

      • songkat7 Says:

I can’t abide the thought of some of them traipsing through Europe, acting ugly towards the people there, parking themselves all day on ancient sidewalks just to get in the front of the line, and in general ignoring all the beauty around them just for a show.

    • songkat7 Says:

There were about 50-ish people at VIP in Milwaukee. Jules and her crowd didn’t do VIP but were at the front of the line of those outside the venue. VIP people got into the venue first, and yet Jules still made it up to the very front. Gee, I wonder how?

I purposely don’t go forward, I don’t need to, but it sickens me that new fans can’t make it up there due to these overinvested people. However, consolation is found in the fact that he looks past them into the rest of the crowd.

Another bit of consolation is that, when these people have a moment or two alone, they must know how absolutely false this life of theirs is, and how pretend their “relationship” with the band is. Reality bites.

      • Jen Says:

See, I really have to wonder. Kristen and Jules didn’t do VIP at my show but I’m 99% sure they were already two or three people in front of me when we got into the venue and we went straight to find a spot. We were probably in the middle of the VIP pack. This was my one opportunity to get close (I have one more show but not getting there that early) and only my second Cook show ever. At the time I’d just rolled my eyes and figured they’d been in VIP. It’d be pretty easy to just get in the VIP line with an old lanyard. I don’t know if that’s what they did. Maybe I’m wrong and they weren’t already there. Either way it’s infuriating.

      • nonna-muss Says:

I went to a show on the last tour and we wanted to be near the front so we went early. There were only about 10 people on line in front of us. Suddenly a half hour before doors opened there were about 40 (at least) in front of us. All the usuals had held spots for their tard buddies. By the time we got pushed and shoved we ended up in about the 5th row. It is infuriating. This time no such nonsense. I’m VIP, but I know what will happen. The same thing. I don’t want to be near them anyway. They are an annoying bunch. They talk and complain through the whole show. They sing every word at the top of their lungs (sorry, I paid to hear David sing, not a bunch of fat bitches) and make the entire experience miserable for everyone around them. No more lines for me, I’ll stand near the back, thanks.

For anyone going to the NYC show on Friday, I heard the whole ‘old’ front row crew are going. Krunk, Stacey, Corrine, Nina’s Feet….sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

      • freedavidcook Says:

I am going to post about the NYC show later tonight because I’m hearing from a friend in that area that the tards are not going to be very happy at all with that show… interesting mitigating factors in play. Prepare for MAJOR whining afterward.

      • Jen Says:

Oh yeah? I know the VIP is already sold out for that one which means they’re going to get rushed through. I’m going to that one but I’m not getting there early enough to be that close anyway so I probably won’t run into any of them this time.

      • AmyB Says:

It makes me wonder what kind of life some of these people have if they think this behavier is reality. I feel sad for most of them.

  30. Amusedbyfandom Says:

Forgot who up thread said it but I don’t think he hates his life, maybe just meeting the same tards over and over 😉 . Of course that’s just *my* perception, lol. The level of projection and dime store psychology that exists among some fans has long been a turn off for me. People who just *know* what he’s thinking and feeling by how he looks in a picture or his posture or analyzing every syllable of every word he banters in between songs in a concert to grasp the “secret” meaning meant for super fans. Honest to God almost unfollowed half the Cook fans in my timeline the other night who were going on and on about this shit.

People want the guy to be perfect knowing damn well no one is, then being all disappointed and ready to trash him because he doesn’t live up to that ideal. He’s a human being, who can’t be “on” 24/7. Call me weird but I kind of like the fact that he can’t fake his emotions at the drop of a hat. At my m&g, I was so flustered that I barely got out a hi to all the guys. He was very nice and made eye contact, I think that’s when I noticed he really does have perfect skin and I went tard blank, lol. Can’t blame him for my shyness, nor did I have any preconceived expectation of what meeting him would/should be like. I guess that helps. Well this went on a little too long, lol. Just had to get a few things off my chest. Excuse the indulgence. 🙂

    • sansdelusions Says:

I feel your pain Amused. I am the same way. When I met him, it was pretty much one big blur. I was told he was very nice, cheery and all, handshake, hug, what’s yr name , where you from, chit-chat, pic, more pics, hugs (no rushing at all – all the time in the world yet it went SO fast etc)… But honestly? If my SISTER didn’t give me the play-by-play afterwards, I wouldn’t remember a thing! LOL. Oh well.

But on your other point about the fans purporting to “know” his inner thoughts, how he thinks, how he feels, what his life must have been like in the last 2-3 yrs – WTF? The PB thread on DCO is the worst offender for this kind of crap. The “threadmomma” (gag) over there, will NOT allow any sort of discord to interfere with what she perceives are Cook’s feelings, especially vis-a-vis his relationship with the fans. Basically she KNOWS him like no other, and well, he loves us, he really really loves us – why, he gets us! Sure he does, as long as we are buying his stuff and attending his gigs, but I seriously doubt he “loves” us all mewling and pawing all over him at the M&Gs – I just don’t see him putting up with this for free!

Also, they were having some convo in there this a.m. and some gal said she outright asked him what he thought of all the cameras and vids at his shows, and I quote here:

“… so I wanted to know if the cameras in the audience interfered with that. His answer was basically, yes, to some extent, it does, when there’s a sea of cameras out there it does put up a wall…”

      Then this:
” I asked if there was some sort of balance, that I do love to go back and look at the pictures. He said he agreed, but he doesn’t have an answer, because generally he doesn’t mind the pictures, it’s just when it is all cameras…”

Anyway, I interpreted this to mean he is telling her VERY diplomatically (as usual) that he would RATHER not have a sea of cameras in his field of vision, but of course, I am in the minority here.

She then goes on to say: “So at the show itself, a) we had the camera nazis in full force…”

Ummm, ok so isn’t she answering her own question here? If he didn’t mind the cameras/vids, why bother even attempting to shut them down? (Yes I know its often the venues that don’t like it, but still) !

Of course, DCO tards have all convinced themselves that all of this means he’s fine with it if done in “moderation” – but who defines what is moderate? Is it one video per night per tard? One picture, ten pictures, 1000 pictures? Per person? And does it apply to themselves? Nooooo! It’s OTHERS who are out of line here, not them!!! Never!

      • JennPaz Says:

Can someone please shed some light on this for me? I was reading that Kristen chick’s twitter, and I swear she mentioned something about how she took over 700 pics at the Chicago show. Really? 700 pics? Why would anybody need to take that many freakin’ pictures at one show?! I mean, it’s not like that was her only show either. I understand taking a few, but 700?! How did she even ENJOY the concert?! I just don’t get that at all. How many pictures does she need of David? And how can she even differentiate which show is which (especially when he wears the same denim shirt over and over! lol) It’s like they spend more time taking pictures than enjoying the damn music! No wonder he’s been looking out into the audience and over the front row tards’ heads! And I’m sure he’s sick of them doing it, too. It’s like they treat him as some kind of freak show or zoo animal. Poor guy. I have a feeling he’s going to be relieved when this leg of the tour is over. And to me, it does seem like he’s lost a little of his spark. Maybe he can get that back someday.

Oh, and does anybody else find it somewhat ironic that David did that “Dogman” cover the same night Becky/bleed_into_one was in the audience?? LOL

      • Black Angel Says:

I think David is burned out. Taking 700 pictures is crazy tard behavior.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Yes, Sansdelusions, the PB thread on DCO is dime store psychology central, full of conjecture, assumptions and imaginations run wild. I don’t spend that much time worrying about the mind set of my own family much less David. The guys clearly has friends and family who look out for him. David appreciates his fans, he loves his friends/family/GF/dog. That mod of that thread and more than a few fans need to learn the difference.

The excessive picture taking is a funny thing, because they clearly want people to look at all the pics and praise them but yet some of them raise so much stink and drama if someone posts them some where they don’t want or don’t properly “credit” them. NGL, I find David attractive and some of the pics are kind of stunning, so I can see a few pics each show but hundreds when you’re going to dozens of shows….just no.

I’ve gone to one show this tour. Took 2 pics with my phone. One of David and one of the Adam Levine look-a-like in Carolina Liar. Both pics sucked, lol, but it’s a little reminder for me. I had way to much time enjoying the music to worry about lining up the perfect shot.

      • WilcoisAwesome Says:

“… so I wanted to know if the cameras in the audience interfered with that. His answer was basically, yes, to some extent, it does, when there’s a sea of cameras out there it does put up a wall…”

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG! (Including at DCO, haha).

        FINALLY! SOME SENSE!!!!11

Sorry for the caps lock haha

      • songkat7 Says:

I took about 148 photos in Milwaukee, and decided to really enjoy the Chicago show, so I left the camera at home. I’m so glad I did, it made the show even more memorable to just get into the music without worrying about getting the perfect shot.

My photo taking is largely due to the fact that I am a (very) amateur photographer by hobby, and concert photography poses a challenge I have yet to conquer. Aside from an outdoor concert where the photos were really great, I’ve had difficulty getting great concert photos. But again, I didn’t want to take away from the music too much, so I took photos at the first show (while still enjoying the music), and skipped it for my second show.

    • nicole Says:

the way every little thing he says/does is dissected is getting pretty annoying, and they say their interpretation with such conviction as if it were fact.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

You have a higher tolerance level for ass talking then me Nicole. I been annoyed with that shit for 3 years now…and you’re right it’s how the state their half assed opinions as irrefutable fact that really bugs me.

  32. JennPaz Says:

This is pretty much self-explanatory! lol It was a pic of David that Kyle tweeted earlier (at least I’m 99.999% sure it’s David)…

  33. neenee Says:

Re: the camera comment- if he feels that strongly about cameras he could specify no camera’s at the show. My assumption is he doesn’t like them but doesn’t want to piss the fans off.

Re: the end of this tour: i am sure he will be super relieved for the shows to be over. Mostly because of the M&G requirements, no doubt. Unfortunately, it seems to be a requirement when not selling millions of records. Gotta pad the record company’s bottom line somewhere. He knows all of this but at the same time, it’s different when you dream of making it someday and then the reality is being a slave to the VP’s in the suits…

    • Amusedbyfandom Says:

Lady Gaga does VIP ( you’ll have to rob a bank to attend) as do almost every big name artist. Name one and I guarantee they have them also. VIP/Soundchecks/Fan club special benefits have been around long before David, it’s nothing new and yes it is a revenue source…for all the artists that do them.

      • Amusedbyfandom Says:

I don’t think he hates cameras at shows. It’s not an extreme one way or the other. Think he just wants people to shoot a few pics, film a song or two then put the camera away or a least down from over your head and enjoy the show. Odd that people don’t understand there’s a middle ground.

      • nonna-muss Says:

Even Bill Maher and Bill O’Reilley do VIP’s. It’s $500 a pop, but they do them. I think as much as a pain in the ass the M&G’s might be, they do stop the bus stalking which has to be a good thing for him and the band.

As far as cameras, I imagine it must be annoying as shit to see people more worried about getting the best pic than actually enjoying the show. The cameras are also annoying as a (shorter) audience member when everyone in front of you is holding up a camera all night for fear they might miss the best shot.

    • AmyB Says:

You’d think IluvDCYes would have a hugh smile on her face. And LadyNSearch What is with grannies head on his chest? Can’t these people be repectful and just stand next to him? Oh that’s right they can’t have to outdo the others.

    • AmyB Says:

I almost don’teven think he has his hand on her anywhere.. Most of the other pics you can see where his arm & hand is. Almost appears to be kind of back behind him. Now that I’ve seen her picture I feel kind of bad for her. She seems like such a sad person. Maybe that’s why she is so obsessed with David.

      • freedavidcook Says:

She posted she’s having David withdrawals now that he’s not near.. Ugh. Just say no..

      • JennPaz Says:

please don’t tell me that’s the surprise she had planned :-O

      • nonna-muss Says:

No, she was bound and determined to get that to David on the Dec Tour so she sent it to Beth c/o Shadow Buddies and Beth gave it to him at Christmas. It was all explained in her recap at DCO. She showed David a picture of it at VIP and is thrilled beyond words that he remembers it. What was he going to say to her? Of course he said he remembered it. Who knows, he very well might, but she’s living off the high of that for 3 days now.

      • sansdelusions Says:

I am pretty sure this is how the convo went down right before IluvDCyes got this pic snapped with Cook the other night (pretend I was a fly on the wall 😉 :

Gramma Moses (squealing): “Ohhhhh David I’ve dreamt of this day for years now ooooh, it’s your right leg, I live for it, I want it, I need it, may I worship it ohhhhh please!!!!!???? “

DC (sotto voce): “You touch my leg or any other part of me Gramma and I’m gonna sic’ my lil’ bro on you! And he doesn’t have to stand here making this pleasant vacant face over and over again like I do for you crazies…. So just watch it lady…(turns and smiles at brother) and says:

“Look at Andrew now gramma and smile pretty for the camera, like me…”

Gramma Moses (stunned look on face): “Ohhhhh Master! I love it when you are so manly and assertive!!! (gasps in dismay), But umm, ooops, excuse me while I have a senior moment uhhh….er… What am I doing here again?”

Whir, click, snap! goes the camera…. and

        “Next “!

Has anybody seen this? It’s Becky/bleed_into_one’s new avi pic on Twitter. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that she was talking smack about David and about how he’s not a good dog owner. She so does not deserve a big ol’ bear hug like that… UGH! What a hypocrite….

  37. Nist Says:

Ooh, someone (don’t know who) apparently got kicked out of soundcheck today for breaking rules, according to the twitter of someone who was at VIP. HA-HAH! Guess they’re sending a warning to the Irving Plaza tards.

      The tweet:
They’re serious about no camera in SC – kicked someone out for real!!

    • JennPaz Says:

Awesome! And I thought I saw something about how on Friday, after the M&G, the VIPs have to go to the back of the line to get into the venue… at least I think that’s what I read. I could be wrong! lol
