Chick Fil A & the Summer of Crazy Hate

August 17, 2012

All this limelight focused upon Chick Fil A and their anti gay marriage stance has reawakened a long slumbering breast, err, beast, Ms. Kerry Kolsch and her American Idol conspiracy theories. Even a few of the religious sites mentioned her belief that homophobia caused Chick Fil A and AT&T to ban together to block Adam Lambert from winning American Idol.

Ever since Dan Cathy mentioned in an interview his stance on homosexual marriage I’ve been expecting the lunatic ravings of Kerry to explode online after she recovered from her initial seizure. Pages and pages, virtual reams about the repression of any form of homosexuality by Chick Fil A and the second place finish of Adam Lambert. I keep imagining her twitching and foaming at the mouth on August 1st, Chick Fil A Appreciation Day surrounded by the beasts of her alleged ‘farm’.

Yeah, I know, a book and reams of crap online she’s written over some guy wearing makeup winning second place on a tv show. Really. Of all the problems in this world, like global warming, the economy, health care, the war on women’s rights, gay rights and she chooses to be incensed over a television show that happened back in 2009? Yes, she does, still to this day.

Unfortunately someone over at The Advocate neglected to do any research on this bizarre princess of television conspiracy theories. They gave her theories some discussion in a legitimate article on Chick Fil A’s tendency to repress homos in an article. The writer lazily decided not to research her lack of validity and the fact that she is one of those wonderful internet laughing stocks. Someone needs to submit her name and story to the Encyclopedia Dramatica site. She belongs right up there with Liz Bateman and others. She’s morphed into an internet wide trolldom.

Someone at The Advocate finally figured out they had quoted a wackadoo as a source and altered the piece to indicate her lack of credentials. She trotted out her mother, disbarred Florida lawyer Elaine McKillop, to fight with her detractors in the comments. Now Kolsch has taken her toys over to Melinda Green’s blog  Top Iol to fight the laughing hordes there too.

Her ponderously long ravings about Adam Lambert barely interest me. What I find very interesting is all of her claims freely posted all over the internet that seem impossible or contradictory.

Example? Early in the whole Idol season with Adam she posted this over on the LA Weekly back in 2009. It’s still up, you cannot fake a date timestamp like she is claiming. Here’s that posting..

There should be a carbon tax on Ann Power’s hot air. She must pride herself on using a paragraph to express something that can be said in a sentence. Ann is the biggest fan of her own ego way more then she is a fan of Adam Lambert. Adam sang beautifully and nailed a difficult song and her complaint is that Adam accomplished what people expected Adam to do, so Adam should have chosen a different song more to her liking. Her incoherence is only matched by her verbosity.

and another comment with very similar wording also listed as from Kerry but this time from Yahoo article – http:// voices.yahoo.com/adam-lamberts-not-so-true-hollywood-story-7251598.html?cat=2

Ann, I totally disagree with you. Adam owned the stage as he does every time he performs. There was not contest between him and the other guys last night or any night. My husband, who is a university professor, has an instruction that he gives his speech class every semester, it applies to you, “if you can’t be good, be brief”. There should be a carbon tax on your waste of hot air.

In other posts from that time frame she’s claimed that she lives with her professor-husband overseas in England, yet she now claims to be an out and proud lesbian who’s never been married to a professor or lived in the United Kingdom? Lying?

Here’s her list of accomplishments that sound ridiculously fishy when viewed as a list.

  • Attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, which, as you can see is a prestigious school tanked up there with some of the worst junior colleges and study to be a medical technician joints you see advertised during daytime tv. 8th best law school in the state of Florida. Claims to be a Juris Doctor and have studied communications at Florida International University. Wonder what her SAT scores looked like?
  • Practicing Lawyer in Florida, but she never mentioned her mother and her were both involved in a real estate scam deal that resulted in her mother’s disbarment  in 2004
  • and according to this filed legal paperwork Kerry notarized a Deed that was proven later to have a fraudulent signature on it. You can see the document if you scroll down to the bottom. it is ‘Exhibit D’
  • Had or has a gourmet food truck
  • Claims to be a private pilot
  • Claimed to have  a degree in television production
  • Claims to speak 11 different languages but refuses to tell which ones. Pig latin doesn’t count.
  • Claims to be a prosecutor in the past
  • Claims to be an award winning salt dough artist
  • Claims to practice mostly Entertainment Law
  • Claims to have attened UCLA
  • Is thought to have gone by a number of aliases such as Kerry Haddad
  • Claims next door neighbors were FBI agents
  • Claims to have a farm filled with animals and goats in Central Florida yet has the free time to spent online spinning her Adam theories.
  • Claims to be a chef
  • Claims to have raised poison frogs for a living

I know I’ve missed a bunch so hit me up in the comments folks so that I might add to the list. It’s late here and I’m going to bed.

Holly Mary Anne Sockpuppets Coda – David Cook

June 27, 2012

Well it looks like Mary Ann Sockpuppet of Yardley, Pennsylvania isn’t doing much beyond pet sitting these days. She’s nary to be found creating boards dedicated to David Cook, or posting anywhere Cook-related. Cook can scratch her name off his crazy fan list.

Her pet sitting website is a scream! It’s filled with grammatical errors and ALL CAPS!! Not to mention the professional photos taken from other websites. I would link to it here but the last time I did that she complained to WordPress and had it removed. The name is a play on words – not pedigrees, remove the pedi and add mutta and you got it.

Wonder if her pet sitting clients know of her criminal record?

Adam Lambert: Too Good For The Radio & Other Sparkle Cow Lies

June 6, 2012

Madam is clearly Fail Whaling and the herds have excuses, tons and tons of strange excuses. I don’t feel like I have to even say anything, just point and laugh. These posts say it all! They should be listed under “Delusional” in the Webster Dictionary. Read and learn.

(I think what’s printed on Adam’s shirt in this picture tells everyone just what his Sparkle Cow herd is good for!)

Cow Laurie Ellen is featured prominently since she’s obviously in competition with Katie J was Head of the Herd.

See if you can parse the moos since many of them are spelling deficient and speak in acronyms.

To add to the chart info noskerdycat provided: Looks like Adam fell to #11 on BB with sales of 23,507. Last week he had about 77,000 which does take him over the 100,000 mark. Still I have a hard time with this info. With all his followers (1.5 million on twitter alone) and all of the wonderful reviews, as well as the response from his awesome shows lately….it baffles me that he has dropped 70% according to the sales chart. Meanwhile, John Mayer sold 231,146 the first week and of course is #1. UGH! Adele and Carrie holding #2 and #3. Not trying to be a downer…but I don’t see this as a good thing? Am I missing something? I just don’t know what this man has to do to get ahead. Up and down. Do you think I am over-reacting, and that maybe things will change with regards to the video being released, as well as if NCOE gets airplay? I checked the Billboard hot 100 (skimmed over it briefly so may have missed it) but I didn’t see NCOE.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

torontoglambert: I was just posting some “down” news and then saw your “great start” and I had to smile to myself…maybe I’m just a bit disappointed with the drop (especially when I saw 70% drop) but overall, 100,000 is nothing to sneeze at, I realize that. Still, puzzled…Adele sold like 50,000 some last week even after being on the charts for like 60 weeks? What gives? Just don’t get it.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~  ~

I don’t think all of his fans are buying his album. Adam’s Glamnation tour sold out in 105 shows and you would think that he would at least have sold over 900,000 copies of Trespassing…so I’m confused too. I also think that album sells effect radio play.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~ ~

My post was about the single sales for NCOE. I haven’t seen any sales since the first week which was around 29,000? Even after he performed it on AI I didn’t see anything. After Adam sang WWFm on AI it sold over 100,000 and jumped to #10 on Billboard. What is the problem with NCOE? Wrong single again? Why isn’t it selling?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

@lovin lambertini – I do think this is a great start. It’s getting increasingly harder to sell full albums, especially with YouTube and illegal downloading, and artists like Adele and Carrie are truly the exception. I think this album has “legs”, and we’ll see steady sales as Adam continues to promote it. Radio play is also critical and we should see increased numbers as NCOE gets more spins. And it will, now that it has official adds and a critically acclaimed video to support it.
Two more points: Adam hasn’t toured yet. That will help. Also, he sells incredibly well internationally. He sold over 2 million copies of FYE, with less than half of that in the US. And the Queen performances will also boost his profile.
In two weeks, we’re 20% toward Gold status!
I think it’s a great start! And it will build.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~

Amberglow….Sorry I misunderstood and posted some info for the Trespassing sales. However, I understand your question about NCOE because I’m puzzled too…didn’t see it when I skimmed the bb top 100 this morning for the single…must admit it was a quick scan so may have missed it…but I don’t think so. I don’t get it either…for the single or the c.d. WHERE ARE THE FANS? Especially when some fans are buying multiple copies…a lady told me over the weekend she alone bought 40 copies herself of the c.d. to gift. Where are the fans?? He seems to have a very passionate, devoted fan base, why is he not getting the sales on both the c.d. and single??? What am I missing?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

i have no opinion as to what’s happening or the future. no that’s incorrect: i think adam and trespassing’s future are extremely bright. he’s going to have a great career, IMH but biased O Eye-wink doing all sorts of cool things.
i admit to being surprised at the sales figures — even the first week’s — knowing full well that all sales of music are generally down, significantly. on that score, his 198k the first week 3 yrs ago, coming off idol, means less to me than the album’s downward trend — and the failure of NCOE to even make it on to the itunes chart (top 200, music). i’m not sure it ever made this chart — and yes, when you look at the performances, the write-ups, the promo — esp the promo at all the radio stations for weeks; the idea that radio had participated in the choosing of this single (perhaps incorrect, but i did read or see that/adam interview? somewhere), the BM association etc. — i don’t get it.
i’ve also been gifting the album/single — and can tell you that other than last sunday nite’s rush (before the BB debut), demand has been sluggish, to put it mildly.

sorry amberglow, just a POV of the moment.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The 100,000 mark is not a bad start. This is only the US number of sales. Adam’s album has had good sales other countries as well. In my neck of the woods (near Jacksonville, FL) the album was sold out at the end of last week. I will check tomorrow to see if they have restocked. If we do not make sure that they keep the album in stock sales will suffer.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I believe that in these days of piracy in the music business Adam Lambert has a more difficult time than most other artist. Because the haters do not want him to succeed they make his music even more available for illegal downloads. I just googled and the result was not good. Adam’s music is for free all over the place. People like us, who understand that free downloading is stealing, seem to be in the minority. I just wish there was a way for an artist to go after these creeps. In the meantime I have my shopping list for relatives and friends who need gifts.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

According to Billboard Trespassing is #12. Phil Phillips sold more.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Are there only 100,000 fans able to spend $12 to buy Adam’s wonderful CD? Where are the other Facebook followers located?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Airplay, Airplay, Airplay. We need to request, request, request. That’s the secret.
Without airplay we will eventually lose Adam……sad but true. I can’t let this happen……so I’m going to spend a LOT of time requesting NCOE!! Who’s with me?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~

His core fans (us) are dedicated to his success. Believe me, I’ve been around since “Hello,” and it’s been a LOT of work. I (and many of us) will continue to work hard until he doesn’t need it any more. But not everybody will do that, nor do they need to. What he needs to capture is the regular fan, the general music-listening public, the passive fan who doesn’t necessarily know what size shoe he wears, but who would certainly enjoy his music (and buy it) if they even knew he existed any more. The best and broadest way to get exposure, to get to these future fans is RADIO. It is so very critical that we get this song moving up the charts, that Adam himself has asked for help three times now.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~

While this is discouraging, I want to look at the big picture, i guess… now it’s really important to get the single played – and it’s had alot of adds today and yesterday – it was just played on WPLJ less than an hour ago. Once the big stations add it, it’s up to us to request vote, whatever we have to do.

I am disappointed it fell so much, but maybe if we can hold it steady where it is, it will move up…. through new fans, casual fans, etc.
We helped to get this to #1… but the more it is played on radio, the more people will buy the album…. so this seems to be a layered process, and it’s what we have to do, it’s what Adam is asking us to do, right?
We have to get this played.

I’m a ‘see the glass half full’ kind of person, so I’m going to remain hopeful, with the new adds this past week, and the video, I’m gonna remain hopeful that the album will hold steady, and start rising again.
i know virtually nothing about the recording industry – this is just how I think, I am probably wrong, but I want something to hold on to right now….)
(Please Universe – help!!)

Ok, I’m off to Chicago Mix to get it a spin there!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Personally, I believe that the time of the year an album is released has a whole lot to do with where it will sit on the charts. The type of album and genre has a major impact on sales also. This is a pop, funk, dance album +, and I would believe that by the time the teenboppers and college students settle in back at home for the summer, that Trespassing will climb to the top again. I think the first spike was due majorily to fans.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

i just don’t understand how he can be ignored when his album and video are getting such great critical acclaim. The Glamberts are not just blinded by hysteria; the music experts can see (and hear) how awesome Trespassing is. Adam is doing promo nonstop, but I don’t think he’s on the radar of most casual listeners yet. I’ve had a couple friends who were like, “oh, its that guy from Idol? He was really good – I didn’t know he had album out.” I post links on facebook for my friends, but they’ll just click when they get around to it. I think a lot of people are like that; they like if they hear it, but unlike Glamberts, they don’t feel a particular responsibility to take up the cause and support his career. There will always be haters, but it’s the passive listeners we have to reach – and we need regular radio rotation to keep people interested. I can only preach the Glambert gospel so much before my friends tune out. Rolling Stone said this will be the “summer of Adam Lambert” and that he is ready for “total domination.” Apparently the radio PD’s didn’t get the memo.

argh…I’ve got myself all worked up again! Time to light some scented candles and take a bubble bath…

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~

My FB post about Adam and corporate homophobia

Hello Glamberts. I just posted this on FB. I don’t have a lot of FB friends, but I’m hoping they will help spread it around. I thought other Glamberts might want to read this and tailor this for their own local stations and post it to FB.

———————————

PLEASE READ THIS AND HELP ME FIGHT CORPORATE HOMOPHOBIA. Radio station 98PXY is refusing to play an out gay artist. This has nothing to do with my being a melodramatic fan. Here are the facts:

Adam Lambert’s album Trespassing was released 2 weeks ago. According to 98PXY’s online 24/7 real-time playlist, his single Never Close Our Eyes has never been played.

Many other artists are being played 4 or more times a day.

Trespassing debuted at #1 and has fallen to #11 – but his album is still HIGHER on the Billboard chart than EVERY artist that 98PXY currently plays, except Adele and One Direction. (His single is not on the chart yet – not surprising since it’s not on the radio and new listeners won’t request it or buy it if they’ve never heard it.)

Trespassing and the single Never Close Our Eyes are at the top of the charts overseas and in Canada. Music critics everywhere are giving Trespassing high praise. Yet US radio stations – which are mostly owned by only 6 conglomerates – are giving Adam little or no airplay. Why is that?

Adam Lambert is openly gay. Unlike popular gay artists in the past, Adam Lambert did not wait for established fame and popularity before coming out of the closet. Adam Lambert’s career is being torpedoed by radio executives and program directors who are either homophobic or assume all their listeners are homophobic. I’ve tried requesting Never Close Our Eyes on 98PXY’s website to no avail. (feel free to join me in requesting at 98PXY.com)

It’s time for real pressure! It doesn’t matter whether or not you listen to 98PXY or like Adam’s music. We need to let the program director and DJ’s know that their homophobic practices are not acceptable. Please call and tell them they appear glaringly homophobic and why (refer to facts above.) You can leave a voicemail if no one answers.

Is Adam TOO Good for TOP 40 Radio?

.
.
.
Well, yes, I think so!
but most of you have heard all my yadda yadda about radio…
can’t guarantee you won’t hear more either.

I am posting a link to ‘our own’ Lauriellens’ latest blog post.
Titled:
CANDYLAND vs. CHESS: Is Adam Lambert too good for Pop Radio

bit.ly/Mr4lIt

I think it is well said, and I am actually surprised to see some early comments that agree with the author.

I feel the key points to the topic include
#1 the fact that Trespassing hit #1 with little or no radio play
#2 the strong support in the review articles that often refer to Adam’s songs as ‘better’ than the usual radio ‘fodder’
#3 and more than a handful of side comments from DJs and a variety of media commenters that the WHOLE album is strong and some actually questioning why Tres. and other songs aren’t the first singles.

(@LE – I have no idea how the mods are gonna take to your participation in this discussion – I am posting the link because I think it is a GOOD article and worth discussing – it is relevant – and judging from the early comments on the article – there are others asking the same thing in their minds. )
(Personally I will be disappointed if AO sees a need to disallow a discussion simply because I have linked to an article written by an active fan on this forum)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

We’ve been inundated with mediocre (a few artists, excepted) for far too long —- ridiculous lyrics, weak vocals — that to many,it’s the norm. Along comes the ‘thinking persons’ artist and it’s really hard to place him because his music, lyrics and videos are sophisticated……not the usual ‘dumbing-down’ that has obvious appeal to the non-discerning listeners!! Instant gratification vs. thought provoking. Perhaps Adam’s music and talent IS too deep for many!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Take a look at bieber’s fanbase young girls who probably only like him because he’s cute! His bland one octave range appeals to them because they don’t appreciate real talent. For that matter most of the singers who have gone really far are really mediocre at best including Katy Perry who comes to mind lady Ga Ga is a step above talent wise because of her stage presence and writing ability and her voice is above average but again does not campare to Adam’s ability. I think the pop fans have become used to so many so so singers that they aren’t used to hearing phenomenol talent like Adam’s. This is a reason why in my view he has so many fans 30 to 60 and more because those of us who are in our 40 – 60’s especially remember David Bowey, Freddy Mercury, Meatloaf and others who were huge in the 60’s -80’s early 90’s and were phenonenol talents like Adam. I definitely agree with BonBon re the dumbing down that is prevalent in the pop world again I keep going back to Bieber as an example. He is treated like he’s the second coming so talented so amazing yada yada yada. His songs are juvenile and the lyrics are repetative and his voice is not that amazing! But he has a great label who market him to be so big. His fans will grow older and he will still be mediocre and his fans will realize that he’s not that talented. As he ages it won’t be so cute anymore. He is 18 and he still seems like he’s younger because of his voice and songs. Adam has the ability to be aroung for a long time because of his amazing talent and it is frustrating that he is not as big as those others yet. I also agree that it also may be due to certain single choice

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Adam has a real intellectual quality. He comes off really smart when he speaks, and he actually uses big words and proper grammar. What a difference between him and so many other popular singers! I have often thought of him as a singer for people with a brain. I think that’s also why he appeals to the more mature demographic. He doesn’t come off like a silly teen. He has had life experiences, toured the world at an early age. He holds his own when speaking to more serious interviewers on NPR, etc. They see him as someone they can speak intelligently with. I think that he just isn’t simple enough for some people. People like simple. It’s easy and non-threatening. His music is not mindless. Even the sillier songs are complex in structure and are vocally pretty demanding. I know this may come off as sounding elitist, but I think it’s true. I agree that he just may be too good for what Top 40 radio has to offer.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Was just looking at itunes. I get annoyed everytime so not sure why I do! Looked up singles, albums and videos. I realize this is just itunes and doesn’t count for overall sales.. however, what I saw was this: Adam wasn’t even on the top 100 for singles (NCOE or any others). He was number 65 for Trespassing album. And the video wasn’t even on the top 100. (Perhaps it isn’t out for purchase yet??) But I get so annoyed. I just don’t get it. Beiber has several in each category. Katy Perry is all over the place. EVen that bland Phillip Phillips from Idol. And LMFAO….they had more than one in each…I just don’t get it. Yeah that Goyte has a catchy song, but I don’t get the attraction and personally don’t see the “talent”. I guess I’m spoiled with Adam. Adele, she’s all over the place, and with her hour special last night at the Royal Albert Hall on t.v., I’m sure she’ll be around for a long time to come. (I like Adele, but it’s been 60 weeks on the chart and she’s still number 2??) Ok, off my rant now. What does it take for Adam to get sales? Where are the 1.5 million fans that claim to support him on twitter? Many of the “sales” are from Glamberts who have purchased several copies of the different c.d. sets that were offerred. Frankly we are getting tapped out. What does he have to do to get new fans??? I thought this new video would be on VH1 countdown over the weekend, but not even a mention of a new video. So, maybe he IS too good for top 40 radio.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Yes !!!!!! However, it does not mean that he won’t exceed on Top 40. We just need the right song. NCOE and BTIKM are great songs, but IMPO they belong on Adult Contemporary, and Hot AC stations. Unfortunately, many only play the top hits of HAC and AC. That limits one to hear them. Another thing…Adam’s videos of these songs, definitely are too good and deep for Top 40, Mainstream POP. They are not literal, and have a completely different message one may not even think about. Some may not want to think about the meaning at all especially if they are younger. They’d rather have literal videos of boys and girls with universal love themes. WWFM was really a guy type of song, and was very universal. His message was “What do you want from me? I’m a freak, but thanks for loving me. I’m still working it out, so don’t give up on me.” The video was also literal. Some groups may try to undermine his thunder. They don’t want defiance. There are a lot of kids and teeney boppers on there. That’s why you’ll find the bubble gum pop Justin Bieber and the likes more popular. Parents do watch out for the kids. Adam’s lyrics, as @LE ‘s blog denotes, though not too explicit, are too mature for top 40. Songs like Kickin in, Pop that Lock, Shady even Cuckoo are of this content. Also, some parents may feel that even Underneath, and Outlaws of Love may be also. Homophobic America puts a real damper on his being heard. If America is having gay marriage equality rights problems in this country we will have problems regarding being heard on the radio. People just don’t want to deal with it right now. That’s why I think the song Trespassing is, to me, the best intro about this whole problem. “Hey folks, I’m a human being here, and I’m not trespassing. I’m just like you. I can’t change, because I’ve been created a little differently. So get with it, and accept me.” That’s the literal message with this album. He’s basically kicking the door in. I also think a nice literal cute video will make it better understood. I vote for Trespassing as the next single. Let them dance, and sing plus think. A fan made a video with this song, and used that Snoopy cartoon, about dogs not allowed in places. Something juvenile like that will appeal to all the masses and send a message to the heart. We can win the war, and not just the battle.

~ ~ ~~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

@Nosk- Thanks for posting my blog. We post all kinds of blogs and articles and discuss them. I think the problem is when I actually post them myself. I also think that in the beginning I wrote about stuff other than Adam. Now it seems Adam consumes my world, so 99% of the blog reflects that.

Now that I read some of the comments, I think that some think we should just abandon Top 40 radio. I don’t think that. But I think RCA may take a different approach to picking singles. To go to radio execs and ask what they think of a song is like going to a Kindergarten teacher and asking what her kids would like. If you want to really know what the kids would like, ask the kids. Perhaps a focus group would be good. I watched the show “Platinum Hit” and one of the challenges took the contestants and their song to a dance club where they played the songs, watched their reactions and then had them vote.

I know that we, the obsessed, want to launch Adam’s career. I don’t have a problem with people in my demographic requesting a song once per day. But I also think we should be honest. Don’t lie about your age when you request and don’t lie about how often you listen to a station. Radio makes money from advertising and advertisers want to spend their precious ad dollars to target a certain demographic. I don’t think it helps anyone to lie.

Both singles are supported by videos that make people think. Most of those in the Top 40 radio target demographic don’t want to think. We spent hours discussing and dissecting every detail of Adam’s videos that have layer upon layer of symbolism. I propose to do a video of SHADY and just show people doing a crazy ass dance to it like the one on YouTube. It should have people of ALL ages, sizes and colors as that is Adam’s ultimate message, that all humans are capable and deserving of love and happiness.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

sastenio, I love how you said that Adam is bigger on the inside than he appears on the ouside. How true! This whole issue is a question of–do we want a more successful Adam who has to dumb himself down, or do we want an Adam who maybe isn’t always at the top, but who hasn’t compromised his integrity and his intellect? It’s a dilemma. I don’t think Adam is much of a compromiser.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The person that forwarded that stuff to me, that and more, some of which I’d seen, also gave her opinion on what the Adam trouble is. I have to say I agree wholeheartedly.

Madam is not making an impact on Top 40 radio for the simple reason that horny frauen is not the sought-after demographic. To be played on top 40, you have to have a young fanbase. Madam does not, and nor do the other Idols who end up crashing and burning. Kelly and Carrie have a lot of young female fans. Daughtry was the first of the WGWGs (even though he didn’t win), and managed to grab a young fanbase while they were still watching Idol. It’s over now.

Madam’s shit isn’t necessarily better or worse than some of the other crap on radio (Bieber, Ke$ha, etc.), but they have young fans. DJs take them seriously when they make requests. They’re not taking the 50 Shades of Shit-loving obsessive frauen seriously at all. Way back with Claylene, this demo became a joke in regard to radio.

Clay Aiken Loses Again

May 21, 2012

Okay, it just has to be said…

*Nelson Munce voice* – HA HA!

Clay lost “Celebrity Apprentice” tonight to Arsenio Hall. I’m convinced that he lost for the same reason lots of celebs have lost this competition. Because you cannot be a back stabbing unpleasant fight-picking game-playing person and win. Notice how the majority of CA winners have been nice people that went out of their way to a) work with others, b) not take offense at others and most importantly c) be a decent NICE person to everyone.

The ancient Claymates are so incredibly butt hurt of this that they are issuing huge Fuck Yous to Donald Trump. Newsflash Claymates, Mr. Donald Trump is laughing all the way to the bank at your silly threats and obscenities because he got you to watch and got the advertising dollars. He is the real winner.

Gee, this is just about like when Clay was on Idol. He lost that too. Big loser.

Double Delusion: David Cook Fans & Adam Lambert’s CD Release

May 14, 2012

Oh, how we see but through a glass darkly.

Cooktards are busy over at David Cook Official speculating on the possibility DCO will disappear with their Googleplex of drool postings.  Newsflash – This probably wasn’t a Dave driven decision, it was just business. He wasn’t giving RCA the return on investment. They dropped him. It’s business, not personal or soul searching or anything mystically retarded like that…

Some amusing samples.

A bit behind the times; just looked at Idol Hangover. I appreciate all of the posts here. My 1 cent; to me, it sounds like he undertook a life evaluation as he proceeds to the big 3-0 (as many have done). I think he decided what he wanted out of life personally and definitely professionally as how he wanted that to play out(e.g., the songwriting). I always thought of Nashville as only country, but have learned through you all it is quite a vibrant and creative general music community. I suspect it will suit him better. It also sounded like he wanted to put down roots in the community and already has several key connections. So, I am zen with it all (not that he asked me lol). I never much angsted re: his career; I save that stuff for my kids. But, I do really think he will continue to have career in music and will never live hand to mouth again. Certainly the cost of living in Nashville must be a lot less expensive than L.A. So, I see only positives here. He was so relaxed in this interview- he’s good; I think we can all be good IMHO.

don’t think Monty is living in LA now. Is he? It doesn’t matter. People can live anywhere and still collaborate.

D looks happy but also quite peaceful. So great to see. Nashville is not superclose to kcmo but it is only 260 miles to Terre haute, so he will be close to the cook side of the family. I am sure it will be great for them all, especially Adam’s kids, to have him around more often

Proper capitalization is your friend.

coolshades, Yes, bandmates can live all over the place, but I thought that usually happened more with big long-established acts who have their sound and process down. New bands I think benefit from proximity, just for logistics sake, if nothing else. Do any of Dave’s current bandmates live in the Nashville vicinity? I know Andy lives in LA but I’m not sure where the others call home. Sure, now that we have Skype and relatively secure digital means of sharing, more is definitely possible. But hopping over to the other’s house to crank out a demo will be tougher. Given that I’ve said all along that Dave’s band is a fluid thing, I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes through further changes with a move to Nashville.

Now that he’s no longer with RCA and time has passed from his Idol days, this is a great time for him to solidify a new band identity and sound, if he is so inclined. The pressures against that coming off of the Idol win have greatly dissipated. This is a new day. Anything is possible

Yeah, right, mostly a lot of begging for Kickstarter funds to record the third or fourth David Cook CD. Dig deep in your pockets you idiots.

I would think it would be kind of tough for all 4 band members to coordinate side jobs (they’ve still got to pay rent) with potential studio work/tours/gigs that might last days or weeks, especially when they’re far away from each other. It wouldn’t surprise me if the current band dissipates, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see DC form a new band in N’ville. Options are pretty open, I would think.
This seems like a much more comfortable fit for him. Never did understand why it’s supposedly important for a musician to live in H’wood. And, apologies to Scott and the California contingent, but he’s well out of owning property in a state that seems pretty certainly headed into a financial/budgetary tsunami.

WeepoleScott is at it again!! Eleventy!!!!!!!!!!11111111

WeHo Scott:

No apologies needed AT. But “headed?” Our state is already there, sad to say. I just hope Dave can get that house sold ASAP without taking a hit.

There is absolutely no reason for David to live in LA at this juncture. We’ll miss him but he’s got to make pragmatic decisions to support his art. I think Monty will likely end up on Austin with Phil Marshall and Daniel James, or head back to Tulsa. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t tour with David. Too many unknowns right now. Much will depend on how much down time vs band time David will have over the next year.

Hey, no one’s discussed David pretty much hating the whole WGWG thing. You can see it in his face & body language. IMO he doesn’t just think it’s dismissive, looks like some pissed off resentment there. No surprise he would hate labels as much as “boxes.”

Dumbass, they’re called ‘white guys with guitars’ because a)they are all white, b)they all have guitars. No racism in that.

Scott – I only wish that David was not as polite as he was about the wgwg thing. Hell – rock music is wgswgs historically, and by putting that down, the media and others are dismissing the whole history of rock n roll since Elvis (that is not to say I am ignoring R & B and the blues and all that Elvis took from the African American musicians he emulated). It is taking all of rock and shoving into the corner.

If rappers were winning Idol, I wonder what the acronym might be. It is wrong to discriminate against anyone. Since when has musical expression with guitars and guys (and girls) of any background been something to demean?

And if one were to apply that to Country music, then the whole industry might as well pack up and leave.

Perhaps the young divas being touted on Idol are not all that good. Or they are too young to be magnetic and compelling?

So, yeah, I am with David and his (barely suppressed) anger at this ridiculous put down of multi-talented young men who happen to be white.

Well, I think Dave is more aware than anyone of the demographics of those who are avid voters on Idol. It is what it is. AI is designed with a structure that helps create this dynamic in the first place. So of course Dave is not happy with the dismissiveness towards the contestants. They’re all like family – talented and mostly deserving to be on that stage. At the same time, I’m sure he would love to see more diversity in the winners. I know he felt that many in his season were better singers than he was. What can a politic guy like Dave do but shrug and say stringing out WGWG as the culprits is wrong?

he’s doing it right. I’d like it a whole lot better if AI didn’t have that idiotic “we eat our young” mentality so every year’s contestants have to be “the best ever” and every good performance is “the best ever” — with the corollary that everything that came before was inferior. Dave is right: The similarities between him and subesequent winners are only superficial. Very different styles.

I am “over” AI (I was not ever into it to begin with, Dave was a FLUKE for me, sigh) — only, it is stupid to be “over” it as long as it is a way to get D’s music in front of millions. I would imagine he will ride that pony till it falls over, and really, that is the only smart thing to do at this point. Take the good that can result, and just mentally chuck all the silliness that goes with the scene.

“Save the manatees,” indeed. lol.

Re the band? Lots of possibilities there. Devin’s always struck me as a kind of a free agent anyhow; Nick’s too new for me to know what to think; Monty, well, Monty, I think, will be in Nashville when he needs to, if that is the deal. Andy’s plans after he gets married are anybody’s guess, but … I’m pretty fond of Andy, and the music Dave and Andy make together. I’d hate to see them split up. I hope somehow it can still work out for them to keep making music together. I think Nashville could actually be really good for Andy but there are two people in a couple and multiple jobs to consider. i am sure that all the angles have been hashed out and will continue to be hashed out as the months unfold…..

minstrel, from what I’ve seen AI has been great to David and this week has been a case in point. I readily admit that I was wrong to think he should distance himself from the show. They do support him. The “best season evah” schtick is just tv.
The WGWG meme bothers me too since, like he said, it’s dismissive and these guys are very different from eachother in style. Unfortunately the media has a short attention span and generalizes… and it’s cynical. I don’t see AI doing that themselves though, they gain nothing from it.

People I know who are casual fans around here have been saying that he looks different… calm and happy like he’s in a good place. Perhaps this new development is something that will truly be good for him on many levels.

Uh,, scary obsessive ladies talking endlessly about minutia? Cook is still owned by the company store. Idol owns his ass in a contract so stiff and hardcore that the devil is jealous his lawyers in hell can’t come up with that type of unbreakable bs.

Hi there everyone. I really cannot set DC aside and fully concentrate on RL, especially RL paperwork which is never fun.

I’m relieved that David and RCA have agreed to part ways with dignity. I always expect dignity from David. I’m on “record” here as one of those who suspected that TLM was a difficult process based on what David said about his own mind set and also the references he made in the Making Of video to the musical identity diffusion he experienced and that he had to fight thru.

I never thought that David wanted or should try to alienate from Idol. How would that be with Simon Fuller XIX as management? I wonder what XIX is planning for David. I hope that David releases FHTZ as another Buzz single in coordination with a samba performance on SYTYCD.

So glad to hear that the band will finally be heading out of N. America, even for a few concerts. The timing of the announcements, or rumors, is interesting since David said that everything would depend on how well TLS goes. Maybe they’ve already seen enough to give a green light? That thought brings a smile to my face for sure.

As far as the move to Nashville is concerned, I think it is a wise move, for personal lifestyle, family, and professional reasons. I’m pretty sure he’ll have some base of operations in LA too if his band members stay there. If Andrew stays there, maybe David will be able to crash with his younger bro, lol role reversal. Andy has his MWK connections in LA. Nick has his other gigs as does Devin.

Loving Post RCA David Cookdom.

blah, blah, blah…

one of my “gifts” of the last song on thursday was to my ds living in wichita. he hadn’t gotten around to listening to it till today. “that’s a really good song. i like it.” grins.

this whole wgwg thing…dave said in some interview around tlm release that he had a chip on his shoulder about it and it pissed him off. pisses me off too. not just for his sake, cuz i like kris’s music too. it also disses about 40 years of rock n roll. i may be mistaken, but isn’t eric clapton a wgwg? how about pete townsend? “tense is important” lol

How dare you mention the great Eric Clapton or one of the greatest guitarist in one of the best bands in the world like they are mere karaoke singers like wgwg. I’d cower in case the Lord Almighty sends a bolt of lightening up your ass.

I’ll go on record here as saying it will come as NO surprise to me if Dave signs a record deal with Island Records/Universal Music real soon.

…and you might start peeing hundred dollar bills too.. Riighttt

and of the one more delusional tards, Minstrel, slaughtering innocent reams of forum pixels with her blathering..

I do want to say here — a couple things. Or, really, a moderate amount about one thing. Because I am pretty sure Dave reads this thread, or someone close to him does. Too much circumstantial evidence for it not to be so. Back in the day the traffic was such that it was hard to keep up but it is not like that now.

And what I would say, if i knew D was reading, would be this: You’re going to have to steer the fan-ship now. Because there is a lot of passionate emotion directed toward the viability of your career, and that can be good for you, but in some respects it can also be not so good if it is not well-coordinated or at least guided by some clarity about what you want/need.

A good percentage of hardcores (not all, but not a negligible number) come out of a world that loves to vote to save their faves, you know? And now that you are indie — at least for the moment — and you have asked for help? There is a lot of dedicated activity directed at helping. All very good. But it is easy for stuff to get chaotic if there is not guidance. Particularly in terms of a radio strategy, stateside and elsewhere: Street team ideas that might work great in the Phillippines or Indonesia are not necessarily going to work great in the US of A, and vice versa. People are determined to do as much as they can to help you flourish, because we want this so much for you, Dave. But we need to know what is helpful, beyond buying multiple copies and talking to people we know in our lives and sharing via normal social media channels.

So Dave, I dunno — you might consider going back to the blogging or the vlogging or find some designated other ways of letting us know the strategy you would like us to pursue. Support needs to be effectively channeled now, or I think we could end up doing some harm along with all the good. There are smart people out here, hard workers, dedicated — but emotions are also running fairly high, you know? Excited for you and concerned for you. For good or ill, that’s how we roll, I guess. In the absence of info, the general assumption is sometimes that there is a gap in planning, and people will try to fill the perceived vacuum. Sometimes that could be ok, but sometimes, not so much. So just give us some direction. New strategies for your brave new world.

That is what I would say. If I knew Dave were listening.

Carry on.

Yeah, yeah, you old nannas keep street teaming for Dave. I’m going to bed. Adam and his release will have to wait till tomorrow. But I’m sure his Sparkle Cows are secretly shitting cow-bricks knowing that if this so-so CD doesn’t sell it will be Adam’s sparkling ass on the label chopping block. History does have a way or repeating itself with those that never learn the lesson in the first place.

Reaction To David Cook’s Departure From RCA

May 11, 2012

I’d been expecting some great wailing and gnashing of teeth among the unwashed masses that comprise the David Cook fandom. And boards, splinter boards popping up like dandelions after a rain storm. To my surprise there hasn’t been much of this yet, either in Twitter feeds or at DCO.

So what has the reaction been among the tards?

Mostly delusional. That this being dropped by RCA is the best thing that could happen to him because it gives him a chance to be the hawt indie rawk god they think he is or that perhaps XIX & Simon Fuller will get him a better deal with more publicity than RCA could pull off.

But the tard contingent always says this when an Idol gets booted from the label. They always act like it was the artist decision, not the company cutting a two-note, one single wonder who’s not earning back what they’ve invested in him initially. Money talks, bullshit walks.. that’s the real reason labels drop artists, because they can no longer turn a profit. It’s simply business, good business practices.

And yet again WeePoleScott, the greasy go-fer at the LA television station is holding forth as the elder statesman of tard land. He’s copying threads to archive from DCO and making statements filled with deep disconnect from the truth. He’s pontificating in his own blowhard manner all over the internets right now.

Others have started to stupidly street team, tweeting places like Atlantic Records and other labels that the companies need to snap up David right now before anyone else does it.

But the truly interesting thing is that the Adam Lambert Sparkle Cows have been watching what’s going on and speculating about it. I suggest they get used to it because when Adam’s much delayed CD finally comes out and lays there like a giant glittery turd he’ll be next on the contractual chopping block. It’s really all about making money for the stockholders of the corporation. Sad that it’s come to that but it is.
